Yemeni official: We're 'bringing the fight to al Qaeda'

Yemen is embarking on a major initiative in its war on terror and plans to build four new branches for the country's elite counter-terrorism units next year, a spokesman for the country's American embassy said on Saturday.

Mohammed Albasha said the branches will be located in four different locations - Mareb, Shabwa, Abyan and Hadramawt.

Hadramawt, Albasha said, "will have the largest contingency of counter-terror units. This is the next phase in the war on terrorism – we are bringing the fight to al Qaeda."

Yemen has been locked in a struggle with al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, or AQAP, the offshoot of the al Qaeda terror network based in Yemen.

It grabbed the attention of the west with the attempted bombing of a Northwest Airlines trans-Atlantic flight as it landed in Detroit, Michigan, on Christmas Day in 2009.

Over the past year, U.S. Special Forces have expanded the type of training they're giving to Yemen's military, while also adding more Special Operations forces to the training mission there.

Wow! This news saves us terrorists a lot of time and money. We have been trying to find out the locations in Yemen where these elite terror fighting groups would be established. Now we know. Thank you, and may Allah be with you to disclose even more information.

Ok,I truly believe that there will be some type of conflagration between muslim's! THEN after the party has flamed out they will go to the united snakes of america and get the american taxpayer to foot the bill for the pig pit barbecue.the smiling pinstripe suited pinhead will tell you SO.

Mr. Bailey, there would be no "conflagration" if you false-Christians did not ignore your own God and invade our lands on the pretext of fighting terror, when really it is our oil you desire. We are commanded by Allah to "Drive the invading infidels out of our lands". Show me where your God commands you to invade our land. You follow the commands of menin government rather than the commands of your God. Allah prepared us for the coming invasion. Your God did NOT prepare you to invade our land. Your own God is not with you as is evident..

Mr. Ahkmed, i am 100% with you. We christians have difficulties preaching about God. Godly people don't sit around and support injustice. We don't invade other humans who are also God's children. We're not allowed to murder over 2millions innocents sparing only women and orphans because its easy to control em for when we shall harvest the rich resources of their land. We are not allowed to pay for anyone to get killed. But we do all the abominable evils that disgraces riteousness. We're not Christians, ahkmed, we're satanists. Sorry for the sufference of your people. Keep fighting for justice until it is point out that the terrorist is not you. It is the invader, we're the evil one who go around the world to rain injustice down on others and the arab nations. Allah sees and hears your blood crying for helps from the earth. Forgive us for being so weak to stand up to ourselves by looking in the mirror. We can't condemn ourselves that is the reason we can never stop doing wrong. One last time, sorry!

Mr. J, your wisdom is large. (bowing) Tru-Muslims and true-Christians have much in common. We both have governments claiming to be true to God, yet are greedy. We both have nations filled with people claiming to serve the true God, yet do terrible deeds in his name. I truly believe that if not for this, genuine Muslims and genuine Christians would get along just fine. We would argue, but we wouldn't murder over our differences or fight to the death over a bucket of oil.

al Qaeda is made up of false Muslims and are the enemy of true Islam just as your KKK is made up of false Christians and are the enemy of true Christianity. The Yemeni government has been forming alliances with foreigners for decades and now too are not true to Allah. Genuine Muslim's are hunted down and murdered by false Muslims, some of them members of one's own family, for being true to Allah by fighting the infidels who invade our land for oil. Genuine muslims will never stop resisting no matter what the puppet government in Yemen proclaims. Only false Muslims turn their backs on Allah and listen to the puppet.

I have to admit that I do not understand why the one faction of Muslims fights with, and kills other factions of what should be their own people.Of course,as the one poster says~we dont exactly have it right here in our own country either!~Looking at all this business of one side here, like theTea Party, and some Repubs, seeming to really Hate all of us who do not sgree with them, and want to treat ALL of our citizens well and get along.Kind of same thing,I guess.~As for Muslims,I dont think that most of them want all this discord. In our small town, there are some of them who run a little store, and I find them fun to talk to,nice, with good family values~and the sad thing is~these particular folks can speak several languages, and are extremely well educated. ~A VERY good reason to bring our public schools up to where the average person in THIS country has more than a 9th grade education~even if they've been all thru school! How can we hope to get along with ourselves, much less other nations,if our general population is SO far less educated?~do away with the Dept.of Education, for instance~now, wouldnt THAT be smart!?

@Sherri W. W.....well thought out post and right on the mark. Education? Maybe if Congress funded education with the same fervent zeal they show for funding prison construction? And what a joy to live in a small town! (other than everyone knows what you did, sometimes before you do!) he-he
