I am in shock... numb... wanna cry, but can't. I've grown the span of this woman's career, remember when she came on the scene, till this very day. She won the hearts of people of color, and remains our sweetheart. Oh, how I will miss her soulful, passionate singing...

I think the term people of color is what it is and that's not a term to use on Us; Just say Black and keep it moving... From a Black person not (a person of color)...R.I.P Lady T and please forgive the lost few out there...

It would help if the writer of this post provided information on the person who died. I've don't recall the name Teena Marie, but if given some information on her 'works' I might.

I agree, what would it have taken for the writer to do research on her before posting. I actually refreshed the page twice cause I thought my computer didnt load it properly. Teena Marie was a huge part of the 80's music scene and was sometimes known as lady t. She sung a song called Square Biz which was as great as the song was popular. In that particular song she rapped and sang. You can check sites like Wikipedia for more info. Hope it helps.
