from a white lady. My goodness...u use the term people of color? Did u really just say that? Let me correct u, everyone loved Teena, EVERYONE and by the way, everyone is colored, just not your color.
I think the term people of color is what it is and that's not a term to use on Us; Just say Black and keep it moving... From a Black person not (a person of color)...R.I.P Lady T and please forgive the lost few out there...
It would help if the writer of this post provided information on the person who died. I've don't recall the name Teena Marie, but if given some information on her 'works' I might.
Seriously? Seriously? She was a real Diva unlike today's pasted together no talents. READ your history and stop listening to so called "top 40 radio". rick james ring any bells?
I agree, what would it have taken for the writer to do research on her before posting. I actually refreshed the page twice cause I thought my computer didnt load it properly. Teena Marie was a huge part of the 80's music scene and was sometimes known as lady t. She sung a song called Square Biz which was as great as the song was popular. In that particular song she rapped and sang. You can check sites like Wikipedia for more info. Hope it helps.
"Fire &Desire"," "deja Vu", "Happy", "I need your lovin", " Lover girl", "Portuguese love" , "Square Biz" , "Im just a sucker for your love" (This represents a small list of her greatest hits from the 80's)

Could not have said it better myself. Gone way too soon
"Person of color" is a perfectly acceptance term. Why not look it up and make it part of your vocabulary?
