Gotta Watch: 2010 celebrity woes; Kathy Griffin drops the ball; stick vs. hammer; New Year's flea circus

2010: The year in celebrity scandal It was a tough year for some Hollywood notables. Aside from the usual rash of DUI's and drug convictions, there were "star whacker" plots and an odd hotel meltdown. For our final installment of CNN.com's Year in Review series, we take a look at some celebrities who smiled and said cheese this year for the paparazzi and the police.

Queen of dropping the ball The unlikely pairing of Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin for CNN's live New Year's Eve coverage has had more than its share of web gems the past few years. From the unforgettably awesome to the unbelievably awkward, nobody makes cheeks turn red like Kathy. We take a look at some of the most memorable moments, including her Jonas Brothers target practice.

He carries a big stick Forget rock, paper, scissors, this score will be settled with a big stick and hammer. A robber in Virginia surprises a store owner by holding him up with what appears to be a large staff. The odd weapon choice is made even more strange when the store owner grabs a hammer to defend himself.

Itchin' for 2011 A small town in North Carolina has its own way of ringing in the new year. Sanford used to be known as Flea Hill and celebrates its heritage by dropping a 3-foot pest. This story is local news crafted at its finest.

Anderson Cooper with Kathy Griffin was so disgusting...We always admired Anderson Cooper as a news
reporter...we really respected him...at last we thought...someone who is honest and intelligent, etc.,
why does one lower himself to be with Kathy Griffin???? I just don't understand...no more
      Anderson Cooper for us!!

What a snnozefest with Kathy and Anderson, it was a waste of Kathy's talent with the restraints CNN put upon her. Hope next year a network with a sense of fun and perhaps balls (pun intended) will allow her to shine.

Kathi Griffin is an uncouth, inappropriate person to have on display for all the world to see. I could feel Anderson's embarassment. She needs to be gone from Times Square and stick to her small venues where she can be as rude as she likes. I find it an embarassment that THIS is what the world has seen as a typical American celebration.
I'm quite sure Anderson Cooper was feeling quite relieved when it was over!
    Happy New Year!

Kathy Griffin was really funny about three years ago when she wasn't so h"ll bent on being offensive. She's super quick, but I've stopped following her. Sounds like I didn't miss anything.
