Montel Williams cited for drug paraphernalia

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office in Wisconsin has confirmed that former talk show host Montel Williams was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia at General Mitchell International Airport on Tuesday.

Williams was caught by TSA with a pipe commonly used for marijuana while going through a security checkpoint, a sheriff's spokesperson said.  He paid the citation of $484 and was released to resume his travel plans.

Williams suffers from multiple sclerosis and is a prominent advocate for legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes.

$500 is a drop in the bucket for Montel. And now he has another example to share with the public about his condition and what Marijuana does for it. So it's a win for him anyways. But seriously.. how important was that pipe where he had to risk bringing it on an airplane? Medical necessity for him or not... to attempt to get it past security is just silly. Leave it behind and buy a new one when you get back home.

Almost as bad as arresting a 72 year old man for possesion.See Willie Nelson.LEO preys on cannabis usuers cause we are non-violent.I would have died and left my 2 kids and wife father-less and widowed if it were not for cannabis.I lost 170lbs while on Fentanyl/Oxycontin for chronic pain.It makes me vomit.I have a script for marinol but can anyone swallow anything let alone a pill when nauseas or vomiting? Stupid...Free the weed for those in need. And there are tons of folks in "Need" instead of want. Please USA I am begging you, legalize this presious herb.Millions of cannabis users cannot be too wrong.

Didn't CNN receive the notice from government officials that they and all news agencies are suppose to suppress news stories relating to marijuana arrest? Let me call Jullian again, before this causes another uproar.

You know now that you have said this I wonder do you know something that the rest of us do not? I have noticed that for a bit there we had daily pot stories and the comments were just flying for legalization; and a few uniformed sheep who still believe weed is bad and makes you kill your family with an axe and kills monkey brain cells by the millions (when you pump it into them with a mask strapped to their head for 5 mins, 1 min longer then it takes to oxygen deprive the brain, daily for months), but I digress.

I have noticed that all of a sudden there have been zero pot stories on CNN and this story was on the CNN crawl but I had to dig on the website to find it.

The government doesn't fight fair for sure. They get to say "there are no studies showing it's effective" but it's a schedule I narcotic and you can't do the kind of studies you have to do to win FDA approval. They refuse to put the drug czar on the same programming as anyone from NORML.

Then when the drug Czar does come on they get a pass every time! They say marijuana is "dangerous" yet nobody ever asks them to qualify how it's dangerous. How is something that you cannot die from and is far less "issue" related then alcohol be dangerous enough to prohibit? Alcohol makes you act stupid and when you get in the car you stomp on the gas because you don't care. Weed however makes you drive safer (however you are stoned and should still not be driving), but let's be real... weed is no where CLOSE to as bad as alcohol is.

The control the government has on what so many people think about weed freeks me out. How can so many people believe that garbage, and WHY is the media cooperating if you are right?

And for those of you who just can't let go of the argument that it can be abused and needs to be controlled:

It will be found an unjust and unwise jealousy to deprive a man of his natural liberty upon the supposition he may abuse it. -George Washington

When I learn of things like this, a big celebrity getting busted for something as petty as having a pipe, it reassures me that I'm not just paranoid in thinking that our Govt does not have our best interest at heart. How pathetic that the powers that be continue to ignore what we really want, to end marijuana prohibition ( many millions of us anyway)... We need to do our best to vote out of office anyone who wants to continue with this totally failed policy!

Come on CNN! Put in the headlines "Montel busted for MMJ pipe" instead of "DRUG" paraphernalia. Drugs kill, pot heals. Everyone knows he uses it for MS so why try to make it sound so harsh?

Was the pipe dirty with resin? If it was new they can't do anything, just throw it away when you return from vacation

$484=RIDICULOUS. A $50 fine would've been much more appropriate. They're trying to make an example of him because of his fame (ref. southpark et. al.). When will this nation wake up?
