Montel Williams cited for drug paraphernalia

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office in Wisconsin has confirmed that former talk show host Montel Williams was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia at General Mitchell International Airport on Tuesday.

Williams was caught by TSA with a pipe commonly used for marijuana while going through a security checkpoint, a sheriff's spokesperson said.  He paid the citation of $484 and was released to resume his travel plans.

Williams suffers from multiple sclerosis and is a prominent advocate for legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes.

He has MS and uses marijuana to lessen the pain instead of getting hooked on those awful narcotic pills that the Doctors continually prescribe like candy to just about everyone, this isn't a secret... I commend him!!!

The man has M.S. what is wrong with TSA?! Come on now. Unless he didn't have a License to hold Medical Marijuana for it, then I understand... I think that's rediculous. I don't and never have smoked Marijuana, but seriously, I can understand why he would for M.S.

Wow so many people bad mouthing a great man he is ill and uses it for health reasons. Montel was a Marine and one of the best talk show hosts ever. In Canada its ok to smoke marajuana when ever you want fines are rarely given. Give it a rest this drug is no worse than beer or cigarettes the only reason its illegal is its too easy to growand the governmet can't control the sales to make money off of it.

I don't know the legal guidelines concerning paraphernalia, but perhaps it was the pipe that was illegal, not the pot. I do know that MS is an incurable disease, and, Marine notwithstanding, healing himself is never going to happen.

It looks as if it was the pipe, bambam, not the drug, that he was fined for.

He has a medical card that is valid in CA, it is not valid in WI, hence why they arrested him in WI. It should be legal for medical nation wide.

His card is for legal possession and use in California. He was in Wisconsin. Here's to guessing *maybe* his pipe is covered in marijuana resin, which is why he was fined for paraphernalia and not possession of drugs. That said, I still think he should be able to take something that helps his ailment. It's no more damaging than alcohol, let Montel smoke whatever makes him feel better after smoking.

My wife had MS. The weed greatly relieved her muscle spasticity. It put her in a better mood, too.

They can fine him because his card was not for Wisconsin, it is for California. They had the legal right to ticket him. Of course, I agree that he should be able to smoke with his ailment, but the law does not permit it, unfortunately.

The law will let wall street rob us blind but don't get caught with a pipe. The law will look the other way when our country is invaded but don't get caught with a pipe. The governor of New York turned loose a murderer after serving only 5 months. But don't get caught with a pipe. We know the Bush Administration was involved in 911 but don't get caught with a pipe.

@ mane...What does his divorce, being an ex- marine, or "the other side" have to do with anything? He is trying to heal himself, or at the very least eliviate his pain. Oh and btw, I do not believe that medical allowance speaks to the legality of paraphernalia...And yes it does help with the MS.
