Montel Williams cited for drug paraphernalia

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office in Wisconsin has confirmed that former talk show host Montel Williams was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia at General Mitchell International Airport on Tuesday.

Williams was caught by TSA with a pipe commonly used for marijuana while going through a security checkpoint, a sheriff's spokesperson said.  He paid the citation of $484 and was released to resume his travel plans.

Williams suffers from multiple sclerosis and is a prominent advocate for legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes.

I don't use drugs and neither do I care for them. But I really lose my faith in humanity because marijuana is still illegal. I also can't stand conspiracy theorists but I can't help to wonder if the pharmaceutical companies are keeping it this way because of all the money they would stand to lose from painkillers and mood enhancers.

Thousands of man-made pharmaceuticals are legal, and have EXTREMELY higher risks and side effects. Marijuana is 100% natural and invented by God or Mother Nature, depending on your point of view. Either way, who are we to argue with either one? A lot of it is about profits. Some of our tax dollars are redirected without our consent by the government to fund "research" into new pharmaceuticals that attempt to cure all manner of ills. As a result, if a manufactured drug shows "promise", then it is prescribed, you are warned with 10 pages of small print about the risks and side effects, and then you must pay a very large copay (or a whole lot more if your insurance company won't cover it) to obtain the drug, even though you subsidized the research and development in the first place.

Marijuana is a plant, to refer to it as a drug is absurd.

The poppy plant itself is legal, ever ate a poppy seed cake? Heck all this military talk on here poppy seed cakes come in mre,s. Poppy seeds become illegal when certain ingrediants are added to make heroin. Marijuana is the only, fully natural "drug".

@Travis That's called econmics, not a conspiracy theory. Research the changes made in the Pharmacutical industry during the 70's and how patents changed regarding prescription drugs. You'll be amazed what you find, and no one will be blaming Haulden Caufield.

These NEW inspection permits are going to increase, and increase, eventually, who DO YOU THINK is going to be paying for these inspections? You got it mate.

Now you know why the TSA hassles Americans. I think their main mission is to hassle sick people that smoke pot. Sounds like our government.

Hey Chuck... If he gets stranded or can't find a way to administer his medication, he suffers. I guess the government should make everybody leave their meds at Home...... Oh that's right..... Tetrahydocannibinol (THC) is ILLEGAL.... he should just suffer, right? Get a BRAIN.

I've seen Yo Gabba Gabba. I don't think any manner of drug or alcohol could make it interesting or even tolerable. THAT show should be what is illegal.
