Montel Williams cited for drug paraphernalia

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office in Wisconsin has confirmed that former talk show host Montel Williams was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia at General Mitchell International Airport on Tuesday.

Williams was caught by TSA with a pipe commonly used for marijuana while going through a security checkpoint, a sheriff's spokesperson said.  He paid the citation of $484 and was released to resume his travel plans.

Williams suffers from multiple sclerosis and is a prominent advocate for legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes.

No common sense exists in this country.in UTAH George Pepard's son was arrested with 38 pounds and received. Fine and no jail time. Others have been jailed for long periods for just having a positive ua test.the medicinal use isn't recongized period. It all depends on WHO YOU ARE. Another Shining example of good old fashion american corruption.

I had the pleasure of working with Montel Williams for about 9 months while he was a Navy (not Marine Corps) intelligence officer. He was literally a walking, talking recuitment poster. No drugs there - the screenings were intense in those days. He was a very intelligent, highly moltivated man, and it is sad to see him struggle with MS. I wish him the best of luck in battling this horrible disease.

I just wanted to clarify that Montel started out as a enlisted Marine and then was accepted into the Navel Academy and received a commission in the US Navy. I think he retired as a Commander. From what I heard he was a good guy and had a distinguished career. I do believe he has MS. It may be mild now or he just maybe able afford the latest and best medications. So does Neil Cavuto and Terri Garr. I have a friend who wanted to try a new promising drug for MS but the cost of her co-pay is over $1000.00 more than the mortage on her house.

Let us manage our pain the way it works for us. No real doctor would discourage the use of medical marijuana over opium based, dangerous habit forming drugs.

With tobacco and alcohol in decrease of usage (because of legalization of pot) we're talking millions of dollars being taken away from medical/insurance/pharmaceutical companies.

Promoting the legalization of pot means you're a socialist, shame on you.

Yes a prime example of... American ignorance and corruption. The "tobacco" pipe isnt illegal. They have to test the resin and assure it consists of thc. If they did that, thats the quickest that aresting officers have ever moved. Hint to the corruption thing. But mainly my opinion, im a pot smoker my self, he is a complete idiot for taking that on a plane, unless there is something else going on. Even if prescribed to him he should have been aware of state and fed laws. My wife is prescribed klonipins but just cuz shes prescribed doesnt mean she can carry them around in a lil baggy. Cmon man use common sense. Unless he jus felt like losing time and money. But in the end if marijuana stays illegal then alcohol and nicotine should follow. I mean no matter your opinion on legalizing marijuana, jus imagine the lives saved if we didnt have nicotine or alcohol. But then again that goes back to hinting to corruption. How you say? Population control, what else. America is in deep doo doo and the reason is, is we have citizens who are too comfortable with life and dont strive to make it better. Thats is what used to set americans aside in the world, now were jus robots like everyone else. " dont ask what can your country do for you, ask what you can do for your country." think about that statement... Jfk is trying to tell american to think for themselves.,. That didnt go well with the " important" people of america and coincidently he was murdered soon afterwards. Now is the time to rise up and take back the country that once was. But who am i, some crazy skeptic that yall think has lost his mind and about to pull a timothy mcviegh. I love this country, fought for this country, i hate the people who run it. No federal government!!! State governments!!!!. Thank you for teading and if i only opened one persons eyes, then i did my job.

I never heard of alcohol or nicotine curing or relieving an illness or disease, but proven to cause cancer, emphysema and premature death and it's legal. Marijuana is used in several countries for medicinal purposes and is illegal. What's wrong with this picture?

Montel has stated numerous times that the only medication that lessens the pain of his MS is marijuana, so him having a pipe on him shouldn't come as a surprise. There are millions of doctors who assign worse medication to their clients: medication with horrible side effects that create other serious medical problems, medication that you know wasn't properly studied but was approved because the big business pharamceutical companies paid off the right people, doctors are getting kickbacks, whatever....for some people, marijuana is the safest AND most effective drug for their illness. They won't legalize it because the government cannot control (read: tax) it...not because the government actually cares for our well-being!

The government could very well tax it. Marijuana legalization advocates for years have proposed the reasonable taxation of the substance. This is done partially to counter the arguments about how will funds be raised for the drug treatment of all the new hard drug addicts that will be created if legalization occurs. Of course the tax money could be used for other things, if the premise about gateway drugs is not true. Its just like the problem we have in Georgia with the ban on Sunday liquor sales. Now that the state budget is in bad shape, the tax money from Sunday sales of liquor look mighty good to some of those who have blocked the repeal of the Sunday liquor sales ban in the past.

I want the government to legalize pot just so everyone would quit talking about legalizing pot.

I'm not surprised that he would have a pipe. But why would he be stupid enough to take a used pipe through a TSA checkpoint? Like it wouldn't be found? Sounds like it was a $484 publicity stunt. Cheaper than the drunk driving "stars" out there i guess. I am a medical marijuana patient, however, it can not be smoked in public. And especially not at the airport! LOL

I agree feuerrader24 last year America spent aprox. $717B according to http://www.drugsense.org/cms/wodclock to combat drugs just to keep the "medication with horrible side effects that create other serious medical problems" of the pharmaceutical companies in demand. God forbid we're allowed to grow a few plants in the privacy of our own homes that relieves pain simultaneously ending the gang war murders rampant throughout America and Mexico.

It's not like this is a big secret. He openly said he uses it many years ago. Why didn't they just cite him then? It's ridiculous. If someone needs it for pain, I don't see why they have to get in trouble for it.

Sad to safe this man is in physical pain and needs a form of relief...if properly controlled "pot" can be a God send to those in need of pain relief. Of course, they'll always be the person out there that will sell it like they sell and pain control medication...

This is just silly, I know people who bring pipes with them through the airport all the time.. The TSA doesn't look for pipes unless you are famous. Why cant we be free to grow and smoke whatever plant we want to? Free country? Not so sure myself

I had a sister who died of MS. She never talked about pain. In fact her problem was she couldn't feel her limbs. Her feet could be freezing cold and she couldn't feel them. I thank God she didn't smoke pot because we had her mentally until the end. Personally, I think pot stinks and when you smoke it you stink. Pretty much like tobacco, only worse. I want to vomit when I smell it, so I couldn't have been with her had she been smoking.

You gotta be fffffing kidding me. Arrested over a pipe. This government is one big SCAM. This government is worst then any third world country. If they think you have money one way or another they will take it away. I can take you down drug row in any large city. At anytime you could probably find at least 100 pipes. Lets see 100 x$484.00=? Oh ok those are crack heads that cant afford the $484.00 JACKED UP FINE. And we have room to talk about Mexico's Government?
