Person of interest sought in Arizona mass shooting
Authorities are asking for the public's help to identify a person who is possibly associated with the suspect in Saturday's mass shooting in Arizona.
A gunman went to a town hall meeting at the Safeway supermarket in Tucson. Six people were killed and 12 others were wounded, including U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
Early Sunday morning, investigators released a surveillance camera photo of a man who was seen at the location where the shooting occurred.
Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik told reporters Saturday that authorities were searching for a second individual who was a "person of interest" in the investigation.
He is described as a white male, approximately 40 to 50 years old. He has dark hair and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark blue jacket.
If you have any information about the individual, you are asked to contact 911, 88-CRIME or the Federal Bureau of Investigation at (520) 791-6974.

You would have fit right in Salem, MA around the year 1692. From what I read nobody said this man was guilty of anything. He was not able to be located obviously after the days events and they are trying to track him down for questioning. If he turns out to be guilty of anything, then release statements like that. Until then, he is innocent until proven guilty.

Interesting... why don't you share the NY Times link with the rest of us. Haven't you learned anything from this tragedy? This is a call for moderation, not partisanship. It's clear that Jared Lee Loughner was a sick person, regardless of his affiliations. But his mental illness doesn't lessen the need for an end to the hyperpartisan politics and the hateful, violence promoting, vitriolic speech from leaders and citizens alike. We're all Americans here, let's act like it and work together.

absurd. people want to make this into a political issues, clearly an issue with someone that has mental issues, not social issues.
The problem is that some politicians, and media personalities speaking on political issues, have used vitriolic language and symbolism (i.e. cross hairs of gun scope) to further their own agendas and careers. It's no surprise that this language encourages those who are unbalanced in our communities to act upon their deranged thoughts. The danger that this extreme discourse would lead to such violence is neither a surprise nor a secret. It's proper to link this act to the extremist politics of the day because it springs from that extremism.

Since when is a politician, her spectators, and supporters being shot down during a political forum not a political issue? There is no reason to draw conclusions about Jared Loughner's motives because that is still unknown, but the fact that he is believed to be mentally ill doesn't mean his actions have no motive. It just means in a court of law he is not responsible for those actions because his motivations stem from an irrational mind. Much like the kind of irrational mind it would take to believe that Sarah Palin's facebook post was a call to violent action.
