Person of interest sought in Arizona mass shooting

Authorities are asking for the public's help to identify a person who is possibly associated with the suspect in Saturday's mass shooting in Arizona.

A gunman went to a town hall meeting at the Safeway supermarket in Tucson. Six people were killed and 12 others were wounded, including U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

Early Sunday morning, investigators released a surveillance camera photo of a man who was seen at the location where the shooting occurred.

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik told reporters Saturday that authorities were searching for a second individual who was a "person of interest" in the investigation.

He is described as a white male, approximately 40 to 50 years old. He has dark hair and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark blue jacket.

If you have any information about the individual, you are asked to contact 911, 88-CRIME or the Federal Bureau of Investigation at (520) 791-6974.

  1. Beware Left-Wing Haters

Definitely an MSNBC, Daily Kos leftist. FACT: The far-left are the ones who said that after voting AGAINST Pelosi, Gabrielle Giffords was "dead to them."

Gun control is not the issue. Vermont has no gun laws, anyone can carry, and it is a relatively low crime state. NJ has one of the toughest gun laws, and it has the worst city in the country for crime, Camden. Guns are just a tool used by people like this to carry out thier plans. Take guns away, and they will find other ways to kill ; a car, a knife, some lawn fertilizer and some diesel fuel(Homemade bomb) , poison, crossbow, homemade gun made out of pcv pipe and nails, etc.
You can not stop violent people, they will always find a way to carry out thier plans, gun or no gun. If more people were allowed to carry, there would be less crime because people would be able to defend themselves better. This guy was stopped because someone else fired on him, if that didnt happen, there would be more dead right now, because he would have kept on shooting. Thank God someone else there was carrying and shot at him to stop him, otherwise you would have a higher death toll. america is violent and people are violent, it is human nature. Look at history, war and death are a part of human culture, guns are a means of protection, in the wrong hands anything is dangerous. Taking away our rights to carry a firearm will only serve to help people like this suceed with thier plans. People like this will always find a way to get a gun no matter how many laws you put into place, you will only deprive decent citizens from protecting themselves and thier families. There is a law against murder, but that dosnt stop people from commiting it, so why would a gun law stop them from getting a gun? It wont, it will just affect the wrong people. Criminals do not care about laws, they break them. take away our gun rights, and the only ones who will have guns will be cops and crinminals, while the rest of us will be sitting ducks in the middle. Every citizen should be allowed to carry and they should be given a 40 hour gun training course. If that happened, crime rate would drop signifigantly. Arm the people and protect the people, that simple. Of course exclude mentally ill and unstable people, but the majority of citizens are law abiding and intelligent enough to handle a firearm safely and know when to use it. If the Armed forces can give a firearm to and 18 year old, and most cops are under 30, then why cant American citizens be trusted to arm and protect themselves??? Why do the states with the most lax gun laws have the least crime, while states with harsh laws have the most? Until we can trust our own society, and stop trying to have a communist rule, we will continue to see tragedies like this unfold.God bless America.

It's about a BLAME game... really immature. If we take away guns, only criminals will have them.

This attempt to put a political label on a clearly confused and mentally disturbed man is pointless. Yes, he might have been liberal in high school; my husband was very conservative in high school and is now a liberal, and I know liberals who became conservatives. It's not uncommon. Moreover, this man's views seem to have been all over the map. Anti-government and anti-abortion according to some reports; a liberal pot smoker according to others. The reality is that he is sick, and I doubt he HAS a clear, coherent, political platform or agenda. Don't waste your time trying to claim that he's liberal or a right-winger. He sounds like nothing other than a paranoid schizophrenic to me.

"Both camps use a LOT of vitriolic speech"

That is simply not true. The vitriol comes from the right. The only people who say it comes from both sides, are the ones trying to justify in their own minds their own hatred.

I completely disagree. I've listened to my friends on the left AND the right use similar phrases and violent imagery ... remember that Bush guy we had as president and the hate he got from the left? It was amazing. And even moreso coming from "peace-loving" liberal friends.
Political leanings don't free you from artifacts of the the human condition such as bias and violence.

One can not ignore the fact that the accused's Myspace page describes his likes as "Sara Palin" and "Tea Party Patriots." I have no doubt that this is another opportunity to review the use of harsh rhetoric by those in politics. Simply, rhetoric can trigger those who are mentally unstable and/or those who are on the extreme fringes of the political spectrum. Civility and decorum need to be restored or there will be more tragedies.

Abnormal behavior is quelled by consequence. There is no looming conse quence for this crime except life in a jail cell being provided all of life's necessities and cutoff from reality- heaven for this dude. When we have unpleasant harsh consequences, crimes like this will be deterred.

A drug addict always finds a way to get the illegal drugs, ther same with guns if you outlaw them then only the bad pepole will have them. A girl needs protection, what are you going to do tell the rapist with a gun and knife hold on let me find a signal for my cell phone and call the cops so they can come get you or throw your cell phone at them....THANK GOD FOR GUNS.... rt,
there are MANY MANY minority mass murders. What you will find is that it is proportional to race percentage.
Heck, if what you said was true, then it means that all of the mass murders going on in Mexico is caused by Whites.
