Person of interest sought in Arizona mass shooting

Authorities are asking for the public's help to identify a person who is possibly associated with the suspect in Saturday's mass shooting in Arizona.

A gunman went to a town hall meeting at the Safeway supermarket in Tucson. Six people were killed and 12 others were wounded, including U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

Early Sunday morning, investigators released a surveillance camera photo of a man who was seen at the location where the shooting occurred.

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik told reporters Saturday that authorities were searching for a second individual who was a "person of interest" in the investigation.

He is described as a white male, approximately 40 to 50 years old. He has dark hair and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark blue jacket.

If you have any information about the individual, you are asked to contact 911, 88-CRIME or the Federal Bureau of Investigation at (520) 791-6974.

Every sane person condemns this horrific act.
Remember the Lynard Skynard lyric "hand guns are made for killing. Ain't no good for nothing else."
One needs look no further than south to Mexico to see the effect of overproduction and distribution of guns.
Lawmakers should take a close look at what type of guns are allowed to be manufactured and sold.
And the screening of gun buyers should be increased.

Folks, Palin, Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, et al, they all KNOW this stuff is going to happen. It's no surprise. Whip up the rhetoric and the fringe will act. But what is scary is that these people and the Tea Party have INDEED declared war on the Democratic Party, and despite what happened today, will CONTINUE to whip up the rhetoric, and the violence. And why? Because they are at war, and they mean business, and if people die, well, this country has had Civil War before and maybe it's that time again. These folks are the emotional and intellectual kin of Joseph McCarthy. They're extremism WILL incite people to kill. If enough of them do it, then Palin & Friends will claim it's the will of the People. You don't thiink we could suffer the sort of tribal terrorism they do in the Middle East? Quite possibly, you saw it today, and FOR SURE, you saw it in Oklahoma City.

It was not Sarah's fault, nor was it Beck's, O'Reilly's, Angle's, or Hannity's, at least, not directly. The hateful inciting rhetoric they visciously spew and putting crosshairs on those they oppose is not something that can so easily be dismissed, however. It is an opportunity to point out the possible repercussions from their actions. This killer most likely killed because of the opportunity, his crazed hate, and for notoriety. The hate that is generated from the outrageous personal attacks by such people should now be repudiated by those same people. I shall not hold my breath. They will condemn it, of course, then they will go about their old, tired agendas that they are the ones who are 'right' and that the left-wing liberals (as if it were a 'dirty' word) are to blame for all the evils in the world. However, one good outcome from this horrible tragedy is that IF Sarah Palin HAD any future in politics, then that idea will now undoubtably cease in the minds of all sensible people. It's all over Sarah in Wonderland..TURN OUT THE LIGHTS, THE TEA PARTY IS OVER!

What is wrong with you people? Calling Arizonians BIGOTS!! You do not live in Arizona and don't have to fear that you will be a victim of home invasion, kidnapping or murdered. Look at the jail rosters and see who is there, mostly illegals. As far as the tragic shooting, we are all in shock. But you forget the Columbine Massacre happened in Colorado. Kennedy shot in Texas, Sniper in Baltimore should I go on. This is not acceptable behavior and No One and I mean no one has the right to take the life of anyone else!! Pure and simple. You are displaying the exact mentality that brought this about. We Americans have become so divided for one reason or another that we fight amongst ourselves and point blame. Take a good look at yourself and if you can positively say you are a perfect person, then I will go out and raise a million dollars on your behalf, but you have to prove to every one that you haven't even so much as passed gas in public!!!

Awful to hear of this horrible murder, but can't help thinking of the
Laurence Harvey character in the movie"The Manchurian Candidate"
I hope the FBI gets all concerned or else this type of assassination will
be as common as drunk driving fatalities in our beloved country.
May the families and victims have comfort..

One need only to look at the gun laws in the United States and compare them to other countries, including their neighbours to the North. In 2008, Canada had approximately 200 murders with guns, the U.S., over 4000 with guns. If you do the math, per capita, U.S. has well over twice the amount of murders with guns. Hooray for the NRA and the Right to bare arms. How can a country as large as the U.S. allow an organization like the NRA to appear more powerful than the government itself? Laws need to change in the US, and they need to change fast.

I'm think Rush Limbaugh & Glen Beck should be charged as Associates in this mass killing. They are as guilty as the man who fired the gun. How they look into a mirror is beyond comprehension.

It'd be nice if the man they are splattering on cnn is actually a "bad guy" compared to the innocent black man shopping in the store that supposedly put the woman in the suitcase.

Caitie Parker, a musician who knew Laughner in high school starts tweeting about it. Witness the speed of news in the Twitter era.

5:09: Official I went to high school & college, & was in a band w/ the gunman. I can't even fathom this right now.

5:32: He was a political radical & met Giffords once before in '07, asked her a question & he told me she was "stupid & unintelligent"

5:34 he was a pot head & into rock like Hendrix,The Doors, Anti-Flag. I haven't seen him in person since '07 in a sign language class

5:36 As I knew him he was left wing, quite liberal. & oddly obsessed with the 2012 prophecy.
