Gen Y car shoppers want an iPhone on wheels: Young drivers crave Bluetooth phone connections, attachments for MP3 players and voice-to-text technology so they can interact with e-mails or text messages while driving. Meanwhile, Ford gets top loyalty marks among car buyers.

After holiday splurge, taste for spending returns: For nearly two years, consumers hunkered down and trained themselves to shop only for necessities. But that all seems to be changing as more and more shoppers loosen their purse strings.

The only problem with the electric car at this time is that, according to some electrical engineer friends of mine, they are not cost efficient or energy efficient, not even close. None of them will touch one at this time. Myself, I don't know, I'm not an electrical engineer, I'm just a lowly IT guy, but if those guys would not touch them, I won't either, at least for now, until the technology improves and these cars are cost efficient. They are kinda cool though, I really liked the Tesla roadster when it came out. I am gear head enough to still love that kick in the behind acceleration.

Go to jay leno's garage online and watch him drive his tesla roadster. Even he admits the tesla's kick in the behind is AWESOME!

Some pretty bad@ss cars there. Although they're beautiful and fast, I'd be interested in knowing the price tag and just how far you can go on a charge. I've heard no guesstimations on when the 'infrastructure', if you will, could be in place (charging stations along the roads and highways) so that long trips are possible. I'd also be interested to know what the means of charging would be, is this solar derived power, etc... The cars are amazing, but industry and consumer wide the vehicle is just the tip of the iceberg.

Apparently GenY'ers are idiots who shouldn't be allowed to drive. Every study I've seen says that handsfree phones are just as dangerous as handheld ones, (both, IIRC, worse than driving drunk or sleep deprived) And listening (or worse, reading) e-mails and text messages?

Wait for the cars to drive themselves, *then* go hogwild. When you're in the drivers seat, pay attention to your driving. Technically that's all already illegal, (driving distracted, and all that) but maybe the government needs to get more specific. And car manufacturers have DEFINITELY got to stop enabling/targetting said irresponsibility.

Can you offer an opinion or comment without trying to insult someone? For all anyone knows you yourself are about the biggest, most uneducated, and ugliest jerk in the world. This isn't a forum for cowardice where you get to anonymously 'hit and run' insult people, so grow up. Contribute to the forum in a positive or factual manner or, seriously, go see a therapist and don't post again until you're cleared. Why do you think that you can just come on here and be an @SS to people?

uh huh, i've got it! Hydrogen is to Electric car. Then Hydrogen replace gasoline fuel. So Electric car will have electronics components. Electronics components will controls over the car. G awesome! "please enter your destination. You will arrive at this hour...". Ladies and gentle men, we have created a big mess this is route to hell. Think about the Toyota Prius The gas pedal is controlled by a electronics chip, not the old fashion way by the wire. So is the 2006 Toyota Corrolla. If the chip works fine, you're in good shape, if the chip felt while you're doing 65 mph let's called it a bad day, or may be you don't have a chance to tell your grand kids. So to make this short and simple, I won't give an electronics chips a chance to control my future, so i;m gonna stay with the least electronics that put in the car, and the fuel injection. Oh by the way who needs a faster car anyway? The law said the speed limit is 55 MPH in some state and 70 MpH in other. Unless you wants to race car. Then you can build yourself a rocket car. LoL.....

Mercedes can even make an electric car look good, maybe US car makers should be thinking about better designs. I have not brought a US car in a long, long time since they look horrible. US car makers need to understand what the people want greatvacationspots.net
