An employee of Canada's Outdoor Adventures company admitted to slaughtering 100 sled dogs, according to a workers compensation report he later filed.
The employee - whose name authorities have not yet released - worked as a general manager of Howling Dogs tour company in Whistler, British Columbia. He claimed he was suffering from post-traumatic stress after carrying out company orders to kill the dogs, the report said.
A company with the same name, Howling Dogs Tours in Canmore, Alberta, has no connection with this case.
The man cited "a slow winter season" that compelled him to decrease the size of the company's dog pack by 30 percent, the report said.
The slaughter took place over the course of two days in April 2010, when he allegedly shot and knifed the animals before dumping them into a mass grave, including at least one dog that was later found alive, the report said.

I would've adopted at least one. I would have happily paid, too. Who the hell can look into a dog's eyes and kill him? Screw this employee and his claim.

It's always stunning what people will do. In this so-called civilized country, certainly those responsible for this crime need to go to prison. When we as human beings understand that animals deserve to live a good life on this earth, we will be less violent to one another.
I wonder how many of those who are outraged by this will sit down to a steak, chicken or pork dinner tonight. Millions of creatures are slaughtered every day bound for the dinner table, but no one seems to realize it is just as horrid as what happened to these innocent dogs.
I believe this individual, and all other company officials who condoned this heinous slaughter, should all be culled from the human race – each with " a clean, one-shot kill ".
Bottom-line is, this was a shameful, horrific act that Canadians and everywhere else in the world are completely disgusted by. This is not a Canadian thing or an American thing or a Middle Eastern thing. It is a case of a disturbed individual doing something completely crazy that no normal person would do. I hope he goes to jail and is haunted by these dogs until he dies. Get over this stupid argument about whose country is better. It's childish and pointless. Those of you getting upset about the idiotic comments, remember, many of these losers are leaving their comments just to get a rise out of everyone and nothing more...

i don't feel sorry for the man. if he was a real man he would have walked away or either shot those f'ers instead of the dogs. i will never visit that area of Canada. i thought Canada had better standards. Guess they're f'ed like the rest of the world to include the US which kills thousands of dogs every week. it is shameful, mans best friend....
I'm disgusted. Why weren't they surrendered? Adopted out? Donated to people to be trained as service dogs. This guy should spend a few years in Michael Vick's shoes. He is just as abhorrent. Why is he still allowed to have dog's? He should have been shut down. It's taking everything I have not to curse every other word.
I didn't even finish reading this story, sickens my stomach! Anyone linked to killing these innocent dogs, should be butchered in the same fashion. This calls for a healthy dose of karma! The shooter, regardless of his claims, has zero sympathy from me, I'm actually repulsed that he is not accepting personal responsibility for his role in slaughtering these loyal creatures. He could've reported this to the proper authorities prior to the attacks, instead he was more concerned about his job and viewed the dogs as disposable. As far as I'm concerned, Workers-Comp better not give a single red cent to this pathetic low-life of a loser!

You all proved my point! My post about the poor babies (fetuses with arms, legs, hearts that beat and brains that function aren't babies to some of you out there) got more fury than the original dog issue.
You people that think this dog situation is more pathetic and disgusting than aborting human fetuses are truly messed up. I feel terrible for the dogs, but when babies are aborted, their heads and arms are pulled off often while they are still alive in the womb. That is the ultimate of terrors.....you don't like it or believe it, just check out the articles by those women and doctors that worked in abortion clinics.

I am a Canadian and I am aghast at this awful murder. I own a Chihuahua and love him very much. I would have taken another dog rather than to see it murdered with pure hate. I hope this guy never sleeps another peaceful night as long as he lives. Most Canadians would like to see this idiot put in jail for a long time but with our laws regarding cruelty to animals I sincerely doubt it. Allmost makes me believe in an afterlife just so he pays someday. Please boycott all dog sledding rides as these idiots do not deserve a dirty nickel from anyone.
