After mass dog slaughter, stressed man files workers' comp

An employee of Canada's Outdoor Adventures company admitted to slaughtering 100 sled dogs, according to a workers compensation report he later filed.

The employee - whose name authorities have not yet released - worked as a general manager of Howling Dogs tour company in Whistler, British Columbia. He claimed he was suffering from post-traumatic stress after carrying out company orders to kill the dogs, the report said.

A company with the same name, Howling Dogs Tours in Canmore, Alberta, has no connection with this case.

The man cited "a slow winter season" that compelled him to decrease the size of the company's dog pack by 30 percent, the report said.

The slaughter took place over the course of two days in April 2010, when he allegedly shot and knifed the animals before dumping them into a mass grave, including at least one dog that was later found alive, the report said.

Why don't you bleeding heart liberals get this up in arms about abortion? They are fully developed babies....I posted something about babies on here and got reamed out by you libs. So, dogs are more important than people? Someone said that dogs didn't have a choice....same for the babies......

I agree it's awful to have dogs treated this way, just we should be just as outraged at abortion and protective of our human babies. Seems the baby whales and dogs are OK to get up in arms about but when any religious group protests abortion they are merely "preventing a woman from choosing".

Well, guess what? The dog owner chose and the dogs didn't have a choice, just like a mother aborting her babies. if you don't stop the abortion of babies, leave this man alone to shoot his doggone dogs!

Nate, have you ever been pregnant? No? Okay then, shut up. When you can experience the hormonal torture of pregnancy, you can have a voice in whether or not a woman has the right to choose to be a human incubator for 9 months or not. Until then, stop making everything about the poor embryos. This article is about dogs. In fact, you just equated babies with dogs by taking it there, so I guess it's okay for people to start dropping off their unwanted spawn at the pound or just having it euthanized.

Animal abuse is wrong. It doesn't matter where it happens. Outdoor Adventures will likely go out of business & unfortunatley, the good citizens of Vancouver/Whister will lose tourism dollars over this depraved act. I hope the person(s) responsible rot in hell with all the other animal abusers (regardless of where they were born). Not only is this wrong & evil, it will cause financial hardship for other citizens. THis is not about national boundaries, its about evil... pure & simple.

This is the harsh reality of businesses such as these. Every time you ride in a horse carriage in NY or watch the Kentucky derby, you need to think about the animals and what happens to them when times get tough.

This is truly a horrific story. I hope the people involved in making this decision go to jail or worse. Anyone who could slaughter dogs in this manner for these reasons has a dark soul and can't appreciate and value life, whether animal or human. Dogs have a deeper bond with humans than any other species on this planet - it has literally been bred into them over the course of many centuries. To kill dogs like this in front of each other is unexcuseable. Everyone involved, including Mr. "traumatized", should rott in hell for eternity. I hope this guys nightmares haunt him for the rest of his life. They very well should.

Humanity is a barbaric parasite that has failed in it's stewardship of this planet. Don't ask God for forgiveness. We are all unworthy of it, and the time for justifying actions is at an end. Were I asked by God "Are any to be spared my wrath?", I would answer "No. All should be destroyed." I do include myself in this judgment. I hope the Mayans and Hopis were right, so I can witness our destruction; it would give meaning to an otherwise pointless & excruciating existence. A**holes.

People should visit their website and email them our thoughts instead of post them here. Then our voices will be heard!

"Spokesman Graham Aldcroft said in the statement that there are no longer firearms on the site, and in the future, sled dogs will be euthanized in a veterinarian’s office."

Well Aldcroft, I suppose thanks to you are due for telling us how you plan to kill more dogs.

With all of the animal rescue groups and possibly people who would need and love to have working dogs I don't understand why they chose to kill the dogs. Can you write working animals off as a tax loss in Canada?
