Lance Armstrong retiring from cycling

Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong on Wednesday announced his retirement from professional cycling, saying he would devote his time to his family and his LIVESTRONG campaign to fight cancer.

"My focus now is raising my five children, promoting the mission of LIVESTRONG and growing entrepreneurial ventures with our great corporate partners in the fight against cancer," Armstrong said in a statement.

Armstrong overcame testicular cancer before his seven consecutive victories in professional cycling's premier event.

Again? I hope he doesn't pull a Brett Favre and come back a few more times.

Not likely he'll pull a farve. He did well on that first Tour de' France back but has been further back since then. I think age has caught up w/ him. He also has a boat load of legal issues with which he needs to contend.

Thank goodness. Let him get back to what he does best in fighting for a good cause and give all of us cycling fans a break from the endless drama of the doping accusations, the Contador conflicts, and the debates over whether or not he will race the Tour of California this year.

Now maybe he will get a real job.
These athletes are like professional students,
    celebutards and Oprah Winfrey –
they have no clue about real life.

I'm just wondering how Mr. Armstrong got 5 children so fast! Wasn't he just dating Cheryl Crow a few years back?
