Libyan crisis sends gas prices up 33 cents in two weeks

U.S. gasoline prices increased nearly 33 cents in two weeks, the second-biggest two-week jump in the history of the gasoline market, according to a new survey of filling stations.

The latest Lundberg Survey of cities in the continental United States was conducted Friday. It showed the national average for a price of self-serve unleaded gasoline at $3.51, an increase of 32.7 cents from the last survey two weeks earlier, survey publisher Trilby Lundberg said.

"This time around, the spike comes not from nature, but from people," Lundberg said. "The armed struggle in Libya has shocked international oil markets and here it is at the pump."

Very good idea Cesar....really need CIA involved with another assination (and more Americans robbing the Arabs,) and you're right...that will solve the oil...and life problems of the world, cause its not going to take many more mistakes out of the west to end it all.

I'm waiting for whiny Americans to complain about the high prices. There is no perfect solution. If we do nothing and support dictators then we get better prices on goods, but everyone hates us and/or eventually our military ends up in these countries anyways. If revolution occurs then prices will flux, but will eventually return once the govts stabilize and our military can stay put. An assassination should resolve it, but I think our politicians are cowards and are afraid of assassination attempts coming back at them. I really am not a drill baby drill guy, but there's already an Alaskan pipeline. I've seen pictures of where they want to drill in Alaska and it's desolate tundra. We will need gasoline and ethanol for a minimum of 30 years for cars, so I don't know why we can't introduce more domestic oil into the market. The gulf spill wouldn't have happened on dry land in such disastrous proportions. It takes little time to cap a well on land and the cleanup is easier. Either our leaders are dumb, or they are really smart and waiting for oil to reach such a premium price. I just hope all this stuff ends quickly. I'd like to see the Saudi royal drug addicts and pro sti tute chasers get the boot. I've never seen such a hypocrisy like Saudi Arabia. The people must live like amish islamic subjects while the royals womanize in western clothes on their yachts.

Nice to see Obama addressing this crises caused by explosive price increases at the pumps. Guess he's waiting for prices to hit 4 a gallon before taking action.

The Libya crisis is just an excuse for the oil mongers to raise prices. Libya is small potatoes in U.S. imports. They provide only a small fraction of what we get from Canada, Venezuela, and other countries.

They need to instill a cuban style of communism in Libya. Once the Libyan people have a taste of 1940s automobile technology, no freedom of press and shotty government health care they will be hooked forever. Viva che!
