Overheard on CNN.com: Jesus on trial

Religion is always a talker for CNN.com readers, and with today being Good Friday, we take a look at a story on what kind of justice Jesus would get in a modern world.

A mock trial in Richmond, Virginia, sought to find out if Jesus would be sentenced to death or simply faced life behind bars with no chance for parole.

Readers had a lot of different takes on how they thought the ruling should go. Most tackled the subject matter seriously and a few made jokes. The comment of the day was a clever tangent from the main topic: "If the crown of thorns don't fit, you must acquit," said Colin in jest. Here's a helping of the best of the rest.

Jesus on trial: What would a modern jury do?

Dave said, "I'm sure Jesus would be in favor of the death penalty, carry a gun and denounce healthcare for all."

Faithless said, "In our modern world of psychiatry and medicine, Jesus would've been laughed at for being a total wack job. Just imagine the headlines, 'Man in prison claims to have changed water into wine. Man in prison claims to have walked on liquid water.' Blah blah. There are 'prophets' all over the world with 'miracles' and 'special powers' that we immediately disprove as frauds. Why are people so convinced that Jesus was legit?"

Dan said, "What a strange mock trial performed by Christians none the less. If Virginia's legal system was available to Jesus then he would not have died on the cross. He may have found another way to die for our sins however being imprisoned for life it would have taken a suicide to make it happen. How do they expect their religion to be born without Christ being put to death?"

Some said it was Christ's destiny, no matter what any jury says in any era. greg pallone wrote, "Even if the trial was today, Jesus would still be executed. This is God's plan, period."

And finally, a reader using the moniker Donald Trump asked, "I want to see Jesus' birth certificate."

Man dies after being shocked with a stun gun

Another story that got lots of attention was about a man who died after being handcuffed and shocked with a Taser stun gun, according to Orlando police. The suspect had reportedly caused a disturbance outside a movie theater near Universal Studios. Commenters debated the use of deadly and non-deadly force, and talked about the risks officers face.

A man causing a disturbance outside a movie theater near Universal Studios died Friday after being handcuffed and shocked with a Taser stun gun, Orlando police said.

CoolGayDad started a conversation when he said, "Off-duty officers, judge, jury, executioners. What if the man was mentally ill? What if the man was having a diabetic reaction? What if ... ? Did he deserve to die? Since when is acting irrational a capital offense?"

Many of the responses said people are responsible for staying out of trouble. RKen wrote in the same thread, "Being mentally ill, having a diabetic reaction, or really anything doesn't give excuse to cause trouble and violently resist arrest. I have sympathy for people in any of those situations, but if people don't know how to behave in public and abide by law then they should not be in it. This isn't to say he deserved to die, but to act like the cops should've just let him have his way is ridiculous. When people resist arrest, you use a tazer. Would you rather police officers were given permission to assault a violent person until they cooperate (which by the way, can also lead in accidental/unexpected death)?"

But LisaChristin said, "Exactly CGD. When having a diabetic reaction one can appear to be drunk, belligerent and yes irrational. They need immediate medical attention - not a stun gun. Police have made this mistake before."

heyview said, "Maybe his irrational, erratic behavior was caused by a medical problem. (I watch Dr. House.) He might have been going to die anyway, taser or no taser. No matter what, this is very sad for the man and his family. We should all send our good thoughts to those who loved him."

RSL4life said, "The off-duty cops were moonlighting as security guards and were bored. It's their word against his, and he's dead now. Who knows if this guy was really being crazy, or just didn't trust cops. I certainly don't. In most sates, you don't even have to have a college degree to be a cop, and I bet these two were not exceptions. They just wanted a chance to use one of their toys." blankman2001 replied, "Wrong. Irrational people should be away from others. Whatever away means."

Mindfulmike said, "You guys make it sound like the cops went 'heh heh, lets kill this idiot.' A man got violent, so they used a taser to get him under control. This happens MANY MANY MANY times daily around the world and an extremely small percent of people are actually injured by it. Tasers save lives and these officers did the right thing."

ceomom wrote, "I'm not in law enforcement so I won't judge, and I have to trust that most police officers are doing what they need to do to protect the public and themselves; but wasn't there a time (before tasers) when two police officers could take down one unarmed man without a real problem?" 19TIGER72 replied, "Yes there was, but today's law enforcement are too busy with other things. I'm sure while one was trying to control the man the other officer was on his smartphone, tweeting what he was doing. 'I'm here with my partner and we are bringing down a Top 10 FBI Most Wanted. Doughnut run afterwards!'"

Gaga's sorry she called Madonna comparisons 'retarded'

Lady Gaga says she's sorry she used the "R" word in comparisons of her to Madonna. Readers talked about the appropriateness of this phrasing, as well as the trappings of celebrity and the veracity of claims that Lady Gaga really does sound like Madonna.

Kate said, "'Get over it.' Hmmm ... same thing can be said for using the "N" word or the "F" word. Retarded used to be a clinical term but thanks to years of bigotry and cruelty towards those who cannot defend themselves, it has been removed from the clinical vocabulary and is now, and rightly so, considered offensive. If we are going to play this PC game then it applies to all, not just the gays and blacks."

Jeepers said, "I don't like the 'R' word and I haven't for a very long time. I like that Lady Gaga apologized. She's all about supporting people who feel like they don't fit in. So, it was a bit of a surprise to hear that she used the word in the first place. But at least she, unlike many people, realize it's an inappropriate, uncool word."

A commenter using the name Not everyone has to be role model noted, "Seriously, she's a performer. She doesn't have to watch her mouth or be a role model for your kids. Be your own kids role model and stop trying to create expectations for whoever happens to be popular. IF she wants to swear, so be it. Don't listen if you don't like it. I don't believe that special ed students or older, special needs adults are referred to as retarded. I don't believe that term is used to describe people with special needs (except incorrectly). So, if it also means 'stupid' and is used as such (and not directed at a special needs person) than what does it matter? The F-word is used in a lot of different ways."

Some said the "R" word isn't offensive. fifi said, "'Retard' has only become offensive because someone wanted to make it offensive. The word has always had the legitimate meaning of "slow". It isn't an offensive word and it describes certain mental disabilities accurately. This is no "n" word, or "f" word. I will continue to use it, just not around people who may be retarded, that.'

Other comments were about personal experiences. kel said, "As a parent of mentally retarded child it's interesting to see so many people on this forum joking about it. If your next-door neighbour was mentally retarded would you have the guts to call he/she that in front of their family. I'm sure they would think you were hilarious! Of course you have no problem doing it on the internet when you don't have to face anyone...."

Another portion of the comments talked about Lady Gaga's music. Newsflash! wrote, "All of modern pop music is recycled from a trash can discovered in John Lennon's New York apartment in January 1980. Lady Gaga is scraping the bottom of this particular barrel, so it's no surprise she ends up with a knock-off of Madonna's 'Express Yourself.' I suppose if you want something original, you might listen to Otis Redding or someone who doesn't need to wear a meat-dress to sell albums."

If this were written about Muhammed, CNN would not have published it for concern over offending the Muslim community.

I just wrote this comment on their other article about cathedrals around the world and my comment was blocked in favor of denigrating comments about Christianity:

    Ste. Anne de Beaupre Basilica
    Quebec, Canada!

My 9th Great-Grandfather Pierre Boivin was rector here, and was married to Etienne or Etiennette Fafard, my 9th Great-Grandmother. Their entire family is buried around or at the Cemetery of the Ancestors at the basilica. There is a monument that was dedicated to Pierre. My Great-Grandmother made an annual pilgrimage each year to Quebec. It is an astonishing beautiful cathedral."

Don't blame the minister on Sunday morning TV. It's not his fault. The lies and deception go back all the way to the beginning. Peter followed Jesus into the garden at Pilate's to ensure that "everything went according to the plan", and damned right he denied knowing anything! The plan was (and Jesus started to realize how bad it was going to get) to be the "sacrificial lamb" for his brother's church, not for his Father, but for his brother, James. James was at the foot of the cross, with Mary their mother. He had secured the tomb from Joseph of Aramathea so that he would have control over where the body would be taken. Jesus of Nazareth was DISPOSED OF before dawn on Sunday morning, and probably buried in another tomb, or even a hurriedly-dug ditch by his brother and perhaps other followers. The story of Jesus meeting the two followers, one not even an apostle with an unnamed companion, on the road to Emmaus who didn't recognize their traveling companion until after he left them. Why was it pointed out in several Gospels that the "risen Christ" wasn't initially recognized by those closest to him?

Why was Peter chosen, and not James, to lead the church? James had a pivotal role in the early church, but why give up that power to the tax collector? Maybe the existing political connections that Peter had? Peter was likely the more learned of the group of carpenters and fishermen. What of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John? Why were THEIR gospels the four that became canon? Surely all of the apostles wrote their own gospels. When were the four gospels chosen? At the beginning, or was it because of more political posturing later on? The gospels were suppossedly written decades after Jesus' death. "James The Just" presided over the Council of Jerusalem in 50CE, and put forth HIS Apostolic Decree – Peter was the first Pope??? In name only.

Was there a power struggle between Peter and James? "You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it" (Matt. 16:18). Jesus was crucified in 30CE. The Council of Jerusalem in 50CE is described in Acts 15:1-29. James was killed by the Pharisees, who were upset by his teachings, and threw him from the roof of the Temple, stoned him, then broke his skull with a club in 62CE. Peter was crucified in Rome in 64CE. The Council of Nicea convened in 325CE. Nearly three centuries after the fact, a lot of power, drama and lies were concocted to retain the power base. So much power did the early church gain that it was able to take over the faltering Roman Empire. The rest, is as they say, history.

Considering that Jesus was brought up on trumped up charges (blaspheming by claiming to be the Son Of God and the Messiah).....Jesus probably would, however, be set up by the FBI And BATF for an armed insurrection in the Garden Of Gethsamine... but here would probably be no survivors and he would never be brought to trial....the media would call his religion a "cult" and say he was "whacko"....the attorney General would attempt to wash his hands of his death, and politicans would have to do extreme backward damage control..they would probably try to divert attention by starting a war somewhere....or some celebrity would do something stupid and everybody would forget about Jesus after his 15 minutes of infamy were over....

Jesus never wanted a religion. He would start one now. Followers just stand on your coat tails and hold you back from achieving your goals.

Reading through all these told me that if today people were to live in Jesus' time, they would have crucified Him as well.

Jesus guaranteed it in John15:19 "If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you."

How many homeless whackos on the street dressed in rags do you stop and listen to as they tell you of how "God talks to them"? Why listen to the two from thousands of years ago? Oh, the two of them developed a power-base. I wonder if I got a homeless crack-pot a group to follow him and write down (and widely publish) his ramblings and then they killed him, if this would turn into another world-wide religion.

Jazzzzzz, I commend your faith. I too am a Christian but not yet as strong as you. For I HATE atheists and their senseless bickering. When I see things like "CE", I think wow, you had to make up your own little version of "AD" – the babies got what they wanted even though there's nothing wrong with "AD." When I see them stamping their feet trying to remove prayer from our country (and other principles upon which our country was forged), anger swells inside me. However, I'm working on thickening my skin around these cretins but it's hard when these mindless ... people open their pie holes.

Brian, you DO realize that AD is an abbreviation for "In the Year of our Lord"? Common Era is the accepted historical dating system, taught in schools and is currently used in historical literature.

Good guy he is. Look him up ..... but I think he's a little busy today. Just keep your eyes peeled , he usually hangs out with Banasy Cesar , Raven and Ruffnutt.

God is alive and well. This vision is what led me to discipleship. It is difficult to understand infinity with a finite mind. I will continue to pray for the nonbelievers. That's love. That's God. http://uniteunderonegod.typepad.com/unite_under_one_god/this-is-how-it-all-started/

Don't forget to throw a prayer in their for yourself. Can't hurt right? God is Alive, but not well. Not sick, but not "well". If God where Buddha for representation he would have thrown up the one grain of rice that was offered as it was diseased.

As for infinity, think of it as a perfectly round bubble that flows into itself. With no center or outer edge. You can think of yourself as the center of this as there are no ends so no one can argue with you, but the others are also the center of their bubble as well.

Now as center of the universe as you are, as we all are in our little bubble of perception. You can not travel to infinity. You are Zero on this array. And realize if you where on the end of this "Infinity" bubble, you would no longer be the center, but you would still be, or are you on the edge of another's "Infinity" bubble. You will never be able to reach to the end, why not make the end your fingertips. Why ponder where we will never go? Why not ponder where we are?

      JPQ,

You have heard and now I shake the dust off my shoes in testimony against you. You will answer for your comments to God Himself when the time comes. Your argument is extremely flawed. You conclude there is no God, but provide no empirical evidence. The proof of God's existence is Christ Himself.

God bless you! I will pray for you as I pray for all atheists. "For it is not the desire of the Father that any shall be lost." Whoever has ears ought to hear. Whoever has eyes ought to see. You've been told.

      "Barnacle Bill",

Your argument is flawed. You conclude that God is a "myth". What are the premises that support your conclusion? Please provide empirical evidence. If you can't provide proof, your argument is only your opinion–not fact. The proof of God is Christ. I recommend reading the gospels–Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. They are truly amazing.

God bless you! I will pray for you. You've been told. –Eli

    19. Surah Maryam (Mary)

    1. Kaf- Ha-Ya-'Ain-Sad.

[These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].

    2. (This is) a mention of the mercy of your Lord to His slave Zakariya (Zachariah).

    3. When he called out his Lord (Allah) a call in secret,

    4. Saying: "My Lord! Indeed my bones have grown feeble, and grey hair has spread on my head, And I have never been unblest in my invocation to You, O my Lord!

    5. "And Verily! I fear my relatives after me, since my wife is barren. So give me from Yourself an heir,

    6. "Who shall inherit me, and inherit (also) the posterity of Ya'qub (Jacob) (inheritance of the religious knowledge and Prophethood, not the wealth, etc.). And make him, my Lord, one with whom You are Well-pleased!".

    7. (Allah said) "O Zakariya (Zachariah)! Verily, We give you the glad tidings of a son, His name will be Yahya (John). We have given that name to none before (him)."

    8. He said: "My Lord! How can I have a son, when my wife is barren, and I have reached the extreme old age."

    9. He said: "So (it will be). Your Lord says; It is easy for Me. Certainly I have created you before, when you had been nothing!"

    10. [Zakariya (Zachariah)] said: "My Lord! Appoint for me a sign." He said: "Your sign is that you shall not speak unto mankind for three nights, though having no bodily defect."

    11. Then he came out to his people from Al-Mihrab (a praying place or a private room, etc.), he told them by signs to glorify Allah's Praises in the morning and in the afternoon.

    12. (It was said to his son): "O Yahya (John)! Hold fast the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah)]." And We gave him wisdom while yet a child.

    13. And (made him) sympathetic to men as a mercy (or a grant) from Us, and pure from sins [i.e. Yahya (John)] and he was righteous,

    14. And dutiful towards his parents, and he was neither an arrogant nor disobedient (to Allah or to his parents).

    15. And Salamun (peace) be on him the day he was born, the day he dies, and the day he will be raised up to life (again)!

    16. And mention in the Book (the Qur'an, O Muhammad , the story of) Maryam (Mary), when she withdrew in seclusion from her family to a place facing east.

    17. She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent to her Our Ruh [angel Jibrael (Gabriel)], and he appeared before her in the form of a man in all respects.

    18. She said: "Verily! I seek refuge with the Most Beneficent (Allah) from you, if you do fear Allah."

    19. (The angel) said: "I am only a Messenger from your Lord, (to announce) to you the gift of a righteous son."

    20. She said: "How can I have a son, when no man has touched me, nor am I unchaste?"

    21. He said: "So (it will be), your Lord said: 'That is easy for Me (Allah): And (We wish) to appoint him as a sign to mankind and a mercy from Us (Allah), and it is a matter (already) decreed, (by Allah).' "

    22. So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a far place (i.e. Bethlehem valley about 4-6 miles from Jerusalem).

    23. And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a date-palm. She said: "Would that I had died before this, and had been forgotten and out of sight!"

    24. Then [the babe 'Iesa (Jesus) or Jibrael (Gabriel)] cried unto her from below her, saying: "Grieve not! Your Lord has provided a water stream under you;

    25. "And shake the trunk of date-palm towards you, it will let fall fresh ripe-dates upon you."

    26. "So eat and drink and be glad, and if you see any human being, say: 'Verily! I have vowed a fast unto the Most Beneficent (Allah) so I shall not speak to any human being this day.'"

    27. Then she brought him (the baby) to her people, carrying him. They said: "O Mary! Indeed you have brought a thing Fariya (an unheard mighty thing).

    28. "O sister (i.e. the like) of Harun (Aaron) [not the brother of Musa (Moses), but he was another pious man at the time of Maryam (Mary)]! Your father was not a man who used to commit adultery, nor your mother was an unchaste woman."

    29. Then she pointed to him. They said: "How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?"

    30. "He ['Iesa (Jesus)] said: Verily! I am a slave of Allah, He has given me the Scripture and made me a Prophet;"

    31. "And He has made me blessed wheresoever I be, and has enjoined on me Salat (prayer), and Zakat, as long as I live."

    32. "And dutiful to my mother, and made me not arrogant, unblest.

    33. "And Salam (peace) be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive!"

    34. Such is 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary). (it is) a statement of truth, about which they doubt (or dispute).

    35. It befits not (the Majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son [this refers to the slander of Christians against Allah, by saying that 'Iesa (Jesus) is the son of Allah]. Glorified (and Exalted be He above all that they associate with Him). When He decrees a thing, He only says to it, "Be!" and it is.

    36. ['Iesa (Jesus) said]: "And verily Allah is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him (Alone). That is the Straight Path. (Allah's Religion of Islamic Monotheism which He did ordain for all of His Prophets)." [Tafsir At-Tabari]

    37. Then the sects differed [i.e. the Christians about 'Iesa (Jesus)], so woe unto the disbelievers [those who gave false witness by saying that 'Iesa (Jesus) is the son of Allah] from the meeting of a great Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection, when they will be thrown in the blazing Fire).

    38. How clearly will they (polytheists and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) see and hear, the Day when they will appear before Us! But the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers) today are in plain error.

    39. And warn them (O Muhammad ) of the Day of grief and regrets, when the case has been decided, while (now) they are in a state of carelessness, and they believe not.

    40. Verily! We will inherit the earth and whatsoever is thereon. And to Us they all shall be returned,

    41. And mention in the Book (the Qur'an) Ibrahim (Abraham). Verily! He was a man of truth, a Prophet.

    42. When he said to his father: "O my father! Why do you worship that which hears not, sees not and cannot avail you in anything?

    43. "O my father! Verily! There has come to me of knowledge that which came not unto you. So follow me. I will guide you to a Straight Path.

    44. "O my father! Worship not Shaitan (Satan). Verily! Shaitan (Satan) has been a rebel against the Most Beneficent (Allah).

    45. "O my father! Verily! I fear lest a torment from the Most Beneficent (Allah) overtake you, so that you become a companion of Shaitan (Satan) (in the Hell-fire)." [Tafsir Al-Qurtubi]

    46. He (the father) said: "Do you reject my gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)? If you stop not (this), I will indeed stone you. So get away from me safely before I punish you."

    47. Ibrahim (Abraham) said: "Peace be on you! I will ask Forgiveness of my Lord for you. Verily! He is unto me, Ever Most Gracious.

    48. "And I shall turn away from you and from those whom you invoke besides Allah. And I shall call on my Lord; and I hope that I shall not be unblest in my invocation to my Lord."

    49. So when he had turned away from them and from those whom they worshipped besides Allah, We gave him Ishaque (Isaac) and Ya'qub (Jacob), and each one of them We made a Prophet.

    50. And We gave them of Our Mercy (a good provision in plenty), and We granted them honour on the tongues (of all the nations, i.e everybody remembers them with a good praise).

    51. And mention in the Book (this Qur'an) Musa (Moses). Verily! He was chosen and he was a Messenger (and) a Prophet.

    52. And We called him from the right side of the Mount, and made him draw near to Us for a talk with him [Musa (Moses)].

    53. And We bestowed on him his brother Harun (Aaron), (also) a Prophet, out of Our Mercy.

    54. And mention in the Book (the Qur'an) Isma'il (Ishmael). Verily! He was true to what he promised, and he was a Messenger, (and) a Prophet.

    55. And he used to enjoin on his family and his people As-Salat (the prayers) and the Zakat, and his Lord was pleased with him.

    56. And mention in the Book (the Qur'an) Idris (Enoch).Verily! He was a man of truth, (and) a Prophet.

    57. And We raised him to a high station.

    58. Those were they unto whom Allah bestowed His Grace from among the Prophets, of the offspring of Adam, and of those whom We carried (in the ship) with Nuh (Noah), and of the offspring of Ibrahim (Abraham) and Israel and from among those whom We guided and chose. When the Verses of the Most Beneficent (Allah) were recited unto them, they fell down prostrating and weeping.

    59. Then, there has succeeded them a posterity who have given up As-Salat (the prayers) [i.e. made their Salat (prayers) to be lost, either by not offering them or by not offering them perfectly or by not offering them in their proper fixed times, etc.] and have followed lusts. So they will be thrown in Hell.

    60. Except those who repent and believe (in the Oneness of Allah and His Messenger Muhammad ), and work righteousness. Such will enter Paradise and they will not be wronged in aught.

    61. (They will enter) 'Adn (Eden) Paradise (everlasting Gardens), which the Most Beneficent (Allah) has promised to His slaves in the unseen: Verily! His Promise must come to pass.

    62. They shall not hear therein (in Paradise) any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk), but only Salam (salutations of peace). And they will have therein their sustenance, morning and afternoon. [See (V.40:55)].

    63. Such is the Paradise which We shall give as an inheritance to those of Our slaves who have been Al-Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons – See V.2:2).

    64. And we (angels) descend not except by the Command of your Lord (O Muhammad ). To Him belongs what is before us and what is behind us, and what is between those two, and your Lord is never forgetful,

    65. Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, so worship Him (Alone) and be constant and patient in His worship. Do you know of any who is similar to Him? (of course none is similar or coequal or comparable to Him, and He has none as partner with Him). [There is nothing like unto Him and He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer].

    66. And man (the disbeliever) says: "When I am dead, shall I then be raised up alive?"

    67. Does not man remember that We created him before, while he was nothing?

    68. So by your Lord, surely, We shall gather them together, and (also) the Shayatin (devils) (with them), then We shall bring them round Hell on their knees.

    69. Then indeed We shall drag out from every sect all those who were worst in obstinate rebellion against the Most Beneficent (Allah).

    70. Then, verily, We know best those who are most worthy of being burnt therein.

    71. There is not one of you but will pass over it (Hell); this is with your Lord; a Decree which must be accomplished.

    72. Then We shall save those who use to fear Allah and were dutiful to Him. And We shall leave the Zalimun (polytheists and wrongdoers, etc.) therein (humbled) to their knees (in Hell).

    73. And when Our Clear Verses are recited to them, those who disbelieve (the rich and strong among the pagans of Quraish who live a life of luxury) say to those who believe (the weak, poor companions of Prophet Muhammad who have a hard life): "Which of the two groups (i.e. believers and disbelievers) is best in (point of) position and as regards station (place of council for consultation)."

    74. And how many a generation (past nations) have We destroyed before them, who were better in wealth, goods and outward appearance?

    75. Say (O Muhammad ) whoever is in error, the Most Beneficent (Allah) will extend (the rope) to him, until, when they see that which they were promised, either the torment or the Hour, they will come to know who is worst in position, and who is weaker in forces. [This is the answer for the Verse No.19:73]

    76. And Allah increases in guidance those who walk aright [true believers in the Oneness of Allah who fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden), and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)]. And the righteous good deeds that last, are better with your Lord, for reward and better for resort.

    77. Have you seen him who disbelieved in Our Ayat (this Qur'an and Muhammad ) and (yet) says: "I shall certainly be given wealth and children [if I will be alive (again)],"

    78. Has he known the unseen or has he taken a covenant from the Most Beneficent (Allah)?

    79. Nay! We shall record what he says, and We shall increase his torment (in the Hell);

    80. And We shall inherit from him (at his death) all that he talks of (i.e. wealth and children which We have bestowed upon him in this world), and he shall come to Us alone.

    81. And they have taken (for worship) aliha (gods) besides Allah, that they might give them honour, power and glory (and also protect them from Allah's Punishment etc.).

    82. Nay, but they (the so-called gods) will deny their worship of them, and become opponents to them (on the Day of Resurrection).

    83. See you not that We have sent the Shayatin (devils) against the disbelievers to push them to do evil.

    84. So make no haste against them; We only count out to them a (limited) number (of the days of the life of this world and delay their term so that they may increase in evil and sins).

    85. The Day We shall gather the Muttaqun (pious – see V.2:2) unto the Most Beneficent (Allah), like a delegate (presented before a king for honour).

    86. And We shall drive the Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, etc.) to Hell, in a thirsty state (like a thirsty herd driven down to water),

    87. None shall have the power of intercession, but such a one as has received permission (or promise) from the Most Beneficent (Allah).

    88. And they say: "The Most Beneficent (Allah) has begotten a son (or offspring or children) [as the Jews say: 'Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allah, and the Christians say that He has begotten a son ['Iesa (Christ)], and the pagan Arabs say that He has begotten daughters (angels, etc.)]."

    89. Indeed you have brought forth (said) a terrible evil thing.

    90. Whereby the heavens are almost torn, and the earth is split asunder, and the mountains fall in ruins,

    91. That they ascribe a son (or offspring or children) to the Most Beneficent (Allah).

    92. But it is not suitable for (the Majesty of) the Most Beneficent (Allah) that He should beget a son (or offspring or children).

    93. There is none in the heavens and the earth but comes unto the Most Beneficent (Allah) as a slave.

    94. Verily, He knows each one of them, and has counted them a full counting.

    95. And everyone of them will come to Him alone on the Day of Resurrection (without any helper, or protector or defender).

    96. Verily, those who believe [in the Oneness of Allah and in His Messenger (Muhammad )] and work deeds of righteousness, the Most Beneficent (Allah) will bestow love for them (in the hearts of the believers).

    97. So We have made this (the Qur'an) easy in your own tongue (O Muhammad ), only that you may give glad tidings to the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons – See V.2:2), and warn with it the Ludda (most quarrelsome) people.

    98. And how many a generation before them have We destroyed! Can you (O Muhammad ) find a single one of them or hear even a whisper of them?

Verily, turning to old books written thousands of years ago by desert tribesmen for "proof" of anything is a waste of time and always leads to arguments. Actions are "good" if nobody gets hurt. No reference to Allah or Jesus or God or any other mythical being is necessary. Religion just makes people angry.

  13. ISLAM - Sensible Man

    24. Then [the babe 'Iesa (Jesus) or Jibrael (Gabriel)] cried unto her from below her, saying: "Grieve not! Your Lord has provided a water stream under you;

    89. Indeed you have brought forth (said) a terrible evil thing.

    90. Whereby the heavens are almost torn, and the earth is split asunder, and the mountains fall in ruins,

Yes, it is verse 98 that is the most disturbing. They wonder why people are worried about mosques being built? Look what they've done to Europe. It's not a religion, it's a virus.

Deep within man is the consciousness of God and a sense of what God requires. Rmns.2:14-16,For when the gentiles, which have not the law,do by nature the things contained in the law, these having not the law, are a law unto themselves.which show the work of the law written in there hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the meanwhile accusing or else excusing one another.in the day when God shall judge the secretes of men by the gospel of Jesus Christ.Seems to me that God is alive and well even in the hearts of atheist. If there were no God,then even atheist would not have to prove their argument!

Don't you now that you YOU who have to prove your arguments. You claim god exists. Prove it! Good luck!

Faith means not wanting to know what is true! If you heard nothing about a talking snake, a magic tree, a boat full of two of every animal and a man who reincarnated himself just to kill himself for our sins when you were at the age of 20+ you would laugh. As a kid you believe and as an adult you are brainwashed or just of a lesser intelligence.

Lets bring this discussion to a new difficulty! Explain your beliefs and how they are rational without quoting a book that was written numerous years after the death of Jesus or one that was passed down as an oral tradition for thousands of years and assimilated the views of other religions. If all you can do is quote a book, then you lack logic and reason. In that case, this is like having discourse with a tape recorder
