Overheard on CNN.com: Readers respond to birth certificate

Comment of the morning: "(President Barack) Obama just pulled out his Trump card." - Cavemullah

Obama releases original long-form birth certificate

Doubters that President Barack Obama was born in the United States, led recently by possible Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, got their answer Wednesday when the White House released Obama's original birth certificate. "Birthers" have insisted that Obama was born overseas - possibly in his father's home country of Kenya - and therefore may be constitutionally ineligible to serve as president. Obama said Wednesday that he released his original birth certificate because the country does not "have time for this kind of silliness."

Many CNN.com readers expressed frustration that the president was put in the position of having to show his birth certificate at all.

CrunkSwaggaG said, "I think Donald Trump and about half of the Republican Party owe President Obama a sincere apology." flatbushfred said, "Obama shouldn't have had to do this. It's blatant racism." LPLove said, "No president in history has ever been treated this way. The birthers are nothing more than racists wrapping themselves in the flag. Disgusting." harryball said, "I feel bad for this guy. When was the last time a president was forced to show his birth certificate two years into his presidency? Oh that's right, never. Even as president, black people are still being treated as second-class citizens."

About Trump’s role in the controversy, CNN.com readers had plenty to say:

icecold12 said, "Now Trump has to live up to his end of the deal and deliver his income tax information and net worth. Obama called his bluff and I bet he folds." BobSacamano said, "I'd like to know how much debt Trump has discharged throughout his life by claiming bankruptcy. How many millions has he stiffed his investors and creditors for?"

USAlegend said, OBAMA: "On Your Face Sucker, Here is my Birth Certificate.’ TRUMP: "Well......huh.....hmmmm....But this doesn't prove that you are not a Muslim."

And now that the original certificate has been released, many CNN.com readers said it still won’t be enough for birthers.

W2ATL said, "This really won't matter. These clowns will have some new madness to cry about in three hours." livingston1 responded, “Really, do you think it will take that long? That kind of hate blinds them to any sense of reason.” Nagaina said, “Countdown to someone claiming the long form birth certificate is an 'obvious forgery'...3...2...1.” BubbaSponge said, “Now hopefully the birthers will give it a rest once and for all!!” TikiGawd said, “Nah, they'll start a movement saying Hawaii isn't really part of the United States because it's 'overseas.' " iroshi said, “It's a shame the ‘birthers’ can't focus on an issue that is actually important. For instance, the national debt, unemployment, taxes, etc. What an incredible waste of time and money this has been.”

The GOP, racists, and Donald Trump has succeeded at diminishing the Office of the President to the point that no matter who becomes president from this day forth it will mean very little to the rest of the world.

Also, they have set the standard from this point on as to how presidents will be treated and the scrutiny they will face. What they do to or expect of President Obama will be the same that is expected for every other president in the future. So whether the Presiden is black, white, or an Indian chief he or she will be disrepected to the highest level by different factions and scrutinized to the 9th degree from now on. We owe it all to the GOP, racists, and Trump for diminishing our country by diminishing our President, Thanks alot.

China Critic Trump Has His ‘Donald J. Trump Signature Collection’ Suits Made…In China

Oh, Department of Delicious Irony. The self-professed possible potential presidential candidate Donald Trump, who’s been a harsh critic of buying products from China, has his “Donald J. Trump Signature Collection” suits and ties manufactured–yep–in China. As Salon’s Justin Elliott discovered, the clothing line that “promises to provide ‘the pinnacle of style and sophistication’ and ‘the necessities to be boardroom ready all of the time’” comes with a “Made in China” tag.

Donald Trump has emerged in recent years as the nation’s foremost China basher, going after the Asian superpower for undervaluing its currency and for taking American manufacturing and jobs. So it’s at least ironic — and at most an example of gross hypocrisy — that Trump’s own line of men’s wear, the Donald J. Trump Signature Collection, is manufactured in China.
Elliott notes that Trump–who truly insists he may in fact perhaps be running for president–”has long complained about Chinese currency ‘manipulation’ and has called for a large tariff on imports from China” and has urged Americans to buy fewer products made in China. Maybe that’s why other parts of the Donald J. Trump Signature Collection are made in Mexico and Bangladesh?
I googled to find out what designer suits The Don wears because after his disgusting witch hunt over President Obama's birth certificate and his vile attack on the President, I can only picture Donald Trump in very expensive suits wearing soiled underwear, but lo and behold I found this article on Donald Trump's clothing line - manufactured where? - in the US, NO in China! You should let your viewers know this bit of information on the Don to show that you can't judge a book by it's cover, only by it's content!

"Wright" color as what??? What on earth shade of green do *you* think it should be...and why? Are you claiming you work for the State of Hawaii in the Vital Records Department so know exactly what color it's supposed to be? And also know exactly how your computer monitor represents colors onscreen so you can adjust for RGB variations? Yeah, "wright".

The one thing all the birthers forgot about in their complaints about being born on US soil is our armed forces. My children, american citizens, were born over seas while I was stationed overseas. Under the birthers claime my children CAN NEVER become the president because they were not born on US soil. SO DOES THIS MEAN THAT WHILE SERVING MY COUNTRY I PUT MY CHILDREN'S POTENTIAL AT RISK? I don't think so. My children are just as qualified to be president as any birther's child.
Their real issue is the color of his skin and his ethnic name. Time to put this to bed for good.......

I'm astounded this country hasn't crumbled yet from within. Between the schmexual deviants, racists, conspiracy theorists, criminals, crooked politicians, crooked businesses, morons and nuclear weapons it's only a matter of time.

Just to set the record straight – we inherited the bulk of our current deficit from a Republican President who told us a far far away country had tens of thousands tons of WMD and we must took care of it. Just in case you have short memory.
