Texas officials say no bodies found at home

[Updated at 9:46 p.m. ET] A tipster launched a search for bodies in Texas on Tuesday evening, but a search of property in a rural area turned up no evidence of any homicides, authorities said.

"We have no indication there are in fact any bodies in the residence or on the property," Liberty County Sheriff's Office Capt. Rex Evans told reporters.

Officials came with a search warrant to look at the property near the town of Hardin. Aerial footage showed officers standing outside a single-story residence in a rural area.

Evans said authorities now will try to locate and speak with the unidentified female caller.

Earlier, a federal official said at least 20 bodies had been found at a home in Hardin. A federal official later said officials were receiving conflicting information about that report.

Hardin is about 60 miles northeast of Houston.

[Updated at 8:30 p.m. ET] Officials have conflicting information about a report that bodies had been found on a property in Texas, a federal official told CNN.

Earlier, a federal official said at least 20 bodies had been found at a home in Hardin, Texas.

According to Capt. Rex Evans of the Liberty County Sheriff's Office, the office "received a call indicating there was a crime scene here."

"Investigators have responded to the scene," Evans said. "We have found some circumstances that have raised some questions. And we have requested a search warrant. As soon as that warrant arrives here at the scene we will further our investigation."

Lee Fregia of the nearby Hull-Daisetta Fire Department said there were "no signs of bodies or graves at this time." Fregia confirmed that authorities were waiting for a search warrant.

Hardin is about 60 miles northeast of Houston.

[Initial post] At least 20 bodies, including those of children, have been found at a home in Hardin, Texas, a federal official told CNN. Officers are securing the scene, the official said.

Hard to find bodies when you can't search for them.

The Houston, TX area has a large amount Mexican citizens and gangs, could be related to the drug cartel war in Mexico. Too soon to know for certain as authorities are still awaiting a search warrant to verify the tip. Just 2 weeks ago a Deputy Sheriff in the San Antonio, TX area was ambushed in his marked patrol car and killed. So it appears that spillover from the battle on the border could be responsible. Hard to know for certain at this point but should be investigated.

Don–This isn't in Houston. It's also nowhere near San Antonio OR the Mexican border.

It is now known that the killer of that deputy acted alone and had no connection whatsoever to any gang or cartel.

Don, don't let your imagination run amok on you, chief. The guy they arrested for this crime was living in a trailer outside of town, was on anti-depressants, and was drunk at the time of the random killing. Sgt. Vann was shot with a MP-15.

I hope this isn't a drop-house/chop-house associated with those pits in Tamaulipas found previously.

Well, whether the story is true or not, nothing should have been leaked to the press about a "physic" tip until it had been thou roughly checked out first.

Dude666, the owners of the home have said it was their daughter's boyfriend who tried to commit suicide. Pretty sure that her boyfriend is probably a human... unless werewolves or vampires were involved...

I see a math problem: 20 dead bodies found (-20 dead bodies) not found = 0 dead bodies. No news here, we're all safe. All in a days work.
