Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley signed a "tough illegal immigration law" Thursday morning, his press office said.
The bill is considered by both supporters and critics to be among the toughest in the nation, even stricter than controversial laws in Arizona and Georgia.
Under the new law, public schools will be required to determine the citizenship and immigration status of enrolling students through sworn affidavits or birth certificates.
Authorities will also be required to detain a person who they believe is in the country illegally if the person cannot produce proof of residency when stopped "for any reason."
Alabama businesses will be required to use a database called E-Verify to look up the immigration status of new employees. The use of the database was recently endorsed after a U.S. Supreme Court ruling on a separate Arizona immigration law.
It will be illegal for Alabama residents to knowingly give a ride or transport an illegal immigrant or for a landlord to knowingly rent a property to an illegal immigrant.
Cecillia Wang, managing attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union's immigrants rights project, called the bill "outrageous and blatantly unconstitutional" in an interview with The New York Times before Bentley signed it.

As an Illegal alien from outer space this law is asinine.
The whole "I PAY TAXES THEY DONT PAY NO TAXES!" or " I PAY FOR INSURANCE THEY DONT PAY FOR INSURANCE" or my favorite "MY KIDS CANT AFFORD TO GO TO COLLEGE, THEY CAN GO TO COLLEGE"
I don't know if the people writing these comments are humor trolls, or if they have brain damage from the air conditioner not functioning in their trailer home.
Naturally you didn't even attempt to discuss the merits of anyone's position. You just ridicule them, call them names, and dismiss, without challenging them on substance, the opinions of others. Standard fare.
What happens when an illeagal woman has a baby here who pays for that? what happens when the illeagal cutting your grass gets hurt and needs medical care who pays for that? Working for a small buisiness i would have to pay $400 a month for any kind of decent med benifits im willing to bet if this country had no illeagals it would prob cost about $50.

I get the verifying an applicants record and even detaining illegals, but questioning people with no just cause, punishing children that have no choice in the matter and even getting in trouble for giving someone a ride. there is a difference between tough and stupid

Whenever I hear some "progressive" "thinker" say that laws against illegals are racist, I offer this query:
If Germany was on the U.S. border, and the invasion consisted of white, blonde and blue eyed Germans
would I still be racist for opposing their illegal entry ?
That question immediately imparts a sense of Reality Vertigo unto the "progressive." Their mouth becomes dry

I guess that once every illegal immigrant leaves the country the department of labor should not have any trouble accomodating everyone that's receiving unemployment with all of those CEO, IT, HR, etc positionis left by the illegal immigrants that have been taking our jobs. I just wonder if fruits and vegetables are still going to be at the same price after a while. we talk about rules and encarcelating these people. Screw the illegal people lets treat them like insects we have plenty of us citizens that are willing to do all of the nasty and physical job for under 7 bucks. lets see the positive impact on the economy! ups I almost forgot! we still spending billions a month to pay for our wars.
Why business wants illegal’s -

2. they work long hard hours and are too afraid to complain
3. if they don't work like a slave they just get rid of them and hire another
4. they don't have to pay the benefits that they would have to pay an American citizen
5. they let the taxpayer pay for their government benefits, business for the most part don't pay taxes!
6. they are getting even for American labor that use to demand a working wage and benefits
7. they can use them to up keep their gated communities
8. they can hire 5 illegals for what they would pay an American citizen
9. they can bribe our government officials to keep this plague as is
10. they only care about themselves and could care less about our country

This WAS the law when my family came the the USA,we followed the rules and so shouls every one else.I also raised two Marines by myself...if the people who dont mind supporting these people go right ahead,I am having a hard time taking care of my own.
