Judge blocks Georgia law targeting illegal immigrants

A federal judge in Atlanta, Georgia, has blocked a controversial state law cracking down on illegal immigrants from taking effect until the broader legal issues are resolved.

Monday's order by Judge Thomas Thrash, which CNN has obtained, temporarily prevents enforcement of the law, which would penalize those who transport or harbor illegal immigrants.

The case is Georgia Latino Alliance v. Deal. The law, known as HB 87, was scheduled to go into effect Friday.

This corrupt judicial system is allowing criminal illegals to run all over this country at will.

Why dont they apply the same stupid logic towards other crimes such as DUI.

By the way, the costs associated with illegal immigration is vastly greater than the costs of all other crimes combined !

These judges will be forcing us into anarchy soon.

Once again glad to see the government step all over the will of the states and the people to control illegal immigration that has run rampant for so long....

Gotta love how illegals are getting more protection from the government than its own citizens. We get taxed to death while the federal government continues to be negligent about illegal immigration. Meanwhile when the states actually try to pass something to pick up the slack, Mexico and the US government team up to strike it down in court. I hate this new handout liberal agenda we have in the United States, the democrats have turned their back on US citizens in order to secure the Latino vote. This country has turned into such a joke, I wish we could vote everyone out in 2012 and start from scratch.

      Dom de dumb dom.

Just so you get it, WE are not taxed to death. The USA has the lowest overall tax rates of any advanced country in the world. Of course, the moronic tax cuts engineered by Bush and his fellow travelers have run us off the economic cliff.

It IS racist, but apparently it's perfectly fine while they suck every last dime out of hard-working, LEGAL, tax-paying Americans. "They're just trying to make a better life for themselves!" Bull. They're all criminals. Get rid of them, and they can "make better lives for themselves" in their own countries.

You know what, I am going to start doing something illegal, like steal from a grocery store. When I get stopped and questioned I am going to refer to this ruling and say "but they could do illegal stuff, why can't I?"

Get rid of this traitorous judge and anyone else that doesn't agree with cleaning up our country and getting rid of illegal alien parasites; these people and the criminals they're trying to protect are what's destroying this great nation.

@Anon I'm an idiot because I believe in protecting my country from illegal aliens that live off the backs of hard-working tax-paying Americans? That's hilarious. If you love these illegals so much, YOU and the people like you should be the ONLY ones paying for them.

this idea that there is such a thing as illegal immigration would make the founding fathers roll over in their graves. and not just half of them, you know the half that would roll over to see a federal judge strike down a state law, but all of them. this country was started based solely on allowing anyone and everyone to come here and live, maybe not freely, but they could live. if you want to make a real difference in the amount of illegal immigrants coming to the us, not america because america is more than the 50 states, then make the process for legalization easier, like it was for all of our ancestors, because everyone came from somewhere else

It's nauseating to watch this country fall apart. There is nothing wrong with enforcing a nation's immigration laws. If they want to become Americans, they can do it legally. This judge is a spineless coward who is afraid to stand up for what's right.

The ONLY reason Omoron isn't doing anything about immigration (or is messing it up and giving criminals amnesty) is because that's the majority of his voter base.

What an outrage that this law even has to be questioned. Georgia residents, lets march. Lets write to our political leaders. Let's make sure that our kids continue to have a safe place to live.
