[Updated at 11:56 a.m. ET] Less than two hours after her sister went down in straight sets at Wimbledon, Venus Williams suffered the same fate.
Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova, the tournament's No. 32 seed, beat the No. 23-seed Williams 6-2, 6-3 in the fourth-round match.
[Posted at 10:34 a.m. ET] Serena Williams is out of the Wimbledon women's singles tournament after losing in straight sets to Marion Bartoli.
Williams, the No. 7 seed, was the defending champion, having won the 2010 competition. She lost her fourth-round sets Monday 6-3, 7-6.
Bartoli, 26, of France, is the No. 9 seed. She placed fourth in last year's tournament at the All-England Tennis Club.
Bartoli was a finalist in the 2007 competition, losing to Williams' sister, Venus.

Now that the sisters and Worsniaki is out the game is wide open for some new blood. I don't see Sharapova winning because of her serving issues and double faults at times.
As a black female I am apalled to see some of these comments from men dinigrating the greatest female tennis players over the last ten years. I know that the usual tennis player was blond of European descent but please fellows where is your chilvary for all women of all shapes sizes and skin tone. These ladies have never been seen in any unfavorable light so just celebrate their tennis and leave their god given looks alone. I hope that you are ashamed.

Venus is a great tennis player but dresses like a ho'. If she would focus more on tennis instead of those hideously ugly outfits, maybe she could be the greatest of all time.

Serena Williams if 5 feet 9 inches tall - not a giant. Her serve isn't the fastest ever recorded for a woman. Sabine Lisicki of Germany (5 feet 10) set that record in 2009.
Almost 40 male players have recorded much faster serves than Sabine's record.
