Other shocking court verdicts

Casey Anthony's acquittal on first-degree murder charges may be one of the most surprising trial outcomes in at least a decade. The Florida mom may have escaped with only misdemeanor convictions, but her acquittal is drawing comparisons to another high-profile murder trial: O.J. Simpson's.

O.J. Simpson escapes murder conviction – Police suspected Simpson murdered Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman in June 1994. The case dominated headlines and was must-see television. Between Simpson's infamous low-speed car chase, the trial's intriguing cast and a dream team full of legal heavyweights, the former NFL superstar was able to avoid conviction. O.J. showed signs of relief and joy when he learned his fate.

Outside the courtroom tensions arose. Some cheered "The Juice's" acquittal while others were stunned and suspected his fame and fortune allowed him to get away with murder.

Jury acquits Robert Blake - "Baretta" helped make Robert Blake a star, but it was a murder accusation that launched him into the headlines again. Blake was accused of killing his wife, Bonny Lee Bakely, in 2001. Blake always maintained his innocence and, in 2005, a jury agreed, finding the actor not guilty of murder. When the jury announced the verdict, Blake began sobbing.

Rodney King verdict sparks riots – Los Angeles already was rife with racial tension before the Rodney King incident. But the allegations of excessive force by white police officers were caught on tape. That had many thinking they'd never be acquitted. Jurors surprised the city and the nation by acquitting all but one of the officers. The verdict proved to be the spark that ignited a powder keg of strained racial relations. Riots broke out in the city's most urban areas and even the president had to get involved.

Fans rally behind Michael Jackson – Child molestation allegations again surrounded Michael Jackson in 2005, resulting in a criminal trial. While some were surprised the King of Pop was found not guilty, his enthusiastic fans never doubted his innocence. They rallied behind him, cheering his victory. One person even released a white dove for each not guilty verdict.

While the outcome is a tragedy, I would like to point out that, on the other hand, the number of innocent people convicted by the system outweighs aqcuittals of truly guilty people. Sure, there is public outcry over this trial, made even more severe by idiot failures like Grace and her ilk, but little or no outcry for those wrongfully convicted. In perspective, nobody really cares much if poor Johnny WhiteTrash goes to jail for something he didn't do, because that's not as newsworthy as this. It happens on any given day. Something to think about...

I agree SMB. I have had the unfortunate experience of watching my son get railroaded on false charges, then incarcerated without bond until he caved in and accepted a plea bargain for crimes that never even occurred. He was only 19 at the time and was subjected to brazen and brutal threats from the prosecutor who then intentionally provided misleading information to the judge. The judge over ruled all of my expensive attorney's objections. I have seen the bad side and know the system is broken. Most folks are far too naïve.

Whether or not there is agreement of the verdict, in the case of Casey Anthony, the jury has spoken. Why drag it on?
It is time that the news commentators put on a muzzle and let those involved in the case to get back to their lives.
Drop it, for their sakes and ours. You people drag out every thing you get involved in the publc eye. All these started
back during the Viet Nam conflict and has escolated ever since. DROP IT NOW!!!

I think politics are involved, they let her walk because, I'm guessing, the jury is against the death penalty. That juror that's speaking, the young woman, sounds scary to me, saying the idea of poor Caylee drowning is more credible than anything the prosecution offered? Remember Natalee Holloway? Joran killed again, also a charming sociopath. I like Nancy Grace but I do believe there is a grain of truth in what Anthonys' lawyer said about trying cases in the "court of public opinion", its getting murderers off. RIP little Caylee!

At the VERY least, Casey should have been charged with child neglect. If your 2 yr.old is 'missing' for 2 minutes, you panic. This ass forgot to mention some babysitter took her a month ago? Come on.....

I ALSO THINK CASEY ANTHONY IS GUILTY! THE JURY SAID THEY DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO CONVICT HER....SERIOUSLY THEY MUST HAVE BEEN SLEEPING! AS FAR AS CASEY WHEN SHE GET OUT SHE SHOULD BE IN HIDING WITH POLICE WATCHN OVER HER! SHE MAY BE FREE BUT SHE NOT SAFE! I ALSO THINK THAT THE JURY SHOULD HAVE NEVER SHOWED THERE FACE NOW THEY NOT SAFE EITHER THEY HELP A CHILD KILLER GO FREE! IF SHE GOT AWAY WITH MURDERING HER DAUGHTER I THINK THEY SHOULD RELEASE EVERY CHILD KILLER THATS IN PRISON RIGHT NOW! AND THINK ABOUT CASEY WILL ALWAYS BE A PRISONER! CUZ LITTLE CAYLEE WILL HAUNT HER FOREVER! IF SHE WOULD HAVE WHEN TO PRISON SHE WAS GOOD AS DEAD ALREADY I KNOW THEY WAS WAITING FOR HER! AND WHEN SHE GET OUT PEOPLE WILL BE WAITING! SHE SHOULD BE KILL THE WAY SHE KILLED HER DAUGHTER! AND TO THE 17 YR OLD THAT SAID WE SHOULD JUDGE! THE COURT SAID NO GUITLY! IF CASEY KILLED UR CHILD YOU WOULD BE DOING THE SAME THING! CASEY ANTHONY IS A MURDERER!

How many wemon have ever been molested by family?Time to step up.You hate the person who's doing it but u keep your mouth shut for years because of guilt, and shame.Have u never stopped and thought George did love Caylee as he did his daughter, and Casey found out good old dad was messing with her too! Sick yes,but ask us if it happens? Yes it does! Was George driving the stinking car?Was George having an affair while poor granddaughter was missing? Did he set everything up to make it look like Casey? Did he ever say he didn't have a drowned baby in his arms? The man who abused me was a George Anthony don't tell me there's not more wemon out there that can't see thu him!Is Casey innocent? No but till u have been in those shoes point fingers at a mother who if she knew her child would know what's happened and not keep it quiet!and stay with the man who touched her child let alone her grandchild! Happens a lot! See if the Anthonys stay together!Casey could in her mind have been thinking Caylee won't go thru what I did,and he won't touch my baby again! Take the blinders off and look from a different way!Deep huh? Been there!God Bless Caylee for she is in His Arms now!

Everyone is now wondering when she will really be released, or if she will be in disguise,etc.....here in my town of Houston, our courts have underground tunnels that connect them. Is it possible they will shuttle her out that way?

Does this mean Caylee Anthony's death becomes an "Unsolved Murder? Shouldn't the Prosecution start looking for the killer who the Jury said ISN'T Casey Anthony?

If indeed Casey did kill her child she will pay, Karma! Look at OJ he got away with murdering his wife and friend but he is now going to spend rest of his life in prison yes not for the crime he commited but none the less he wont ever be a free man! Michael Jackson died way to early in life that again to me is Karma so he cant hurt anymore innocent children! Casey Anthony will pay for her crimes, its just sad she didnt get convicted but one day!
