Lightning strikes tree near Caylee Anthony memorial site

Hours after Casey Anthony learned on Thursday that she will leave jail next week, lightning apparently struck a tree next to a makeshift memorial in honor of her slain daughter,  Caylee.

No one saw lightning strike the pine tree on Suburban Drive in Orange County, Florida, where teddy bears and flowers mark the spot where 2-year-old Caylee's remains were found on December 11, 2008.

But long, diagonal strips of exposed wood scarred the tall pine tree, WESH reported, and bits of bark lay scattered across the road.

"It could be a sign from the angels that they aren't happy with what's happened," a visitor to the site told the Orlando Sentinel newspaper. "The rain, the lightning, the storm - it's the heavens indicating they aren't happy."

There are more lightning strikes in Florida per square mile than in any other state, according to weather.com.

A Pinellas County jury acquitted Anthony, 24, of murder and manslaughter charges Tuesday in the death of her daughter. The same jury convicted her of four charges of obstruction of justice for lying to police during the search for Caylee.

Judge Belvin Perry sentenced Anthony to four years in jail - one year for each of her four convictions - but with credit for nearly three years already served and good behavior, her release date was set for Wednesday, July 13, a court spokeswoman said.

Court costs, fines, Zenaids suit, the searchers suit... this is just the beginning for Casey. Her life will b just like OJs, miserable. Her punishment will come from above. For those who support her, just think at what she has done to her family. They wont move n will have to deal with the peoples stares n hate. Their life will never b the same. As for the jurors, they are a bunch of morons! Now, will Orlando continue searching for Caylees killer?

Come on now people use common sense. God put it on the table of everbodys hearts it is the spirit of GOD WITHIN YOU not just your conscience. Your own spirit will testify against you so there will be no excuse such as "I didn't have enough proof" its in you and all around you. Time is ticking...speaking of... time is even in accordance to JESUS CHRIST (B.C-before Christ & A.D-after death. THE WAY,THE TRUTH, & THE LIFE!

Wow. You are a moron. So what happened between his birth and death then? Just a gap that nobody cared to remember? A.D. is not "after death" it is "Anno Domini", which is Latin for "year of our Lord" (not mine, mind you. All hail the FSM!). You religious folk are always so quick to spout crap off without a clue as to what you are really saying. I guess it's just in your brain to spread lies, so carry on.

AD does not stand for After Death if BC stands for Before Christ and according to you AD stands for after death when exactly did Jesus Live?

lol @ "common sense"! You should try it sometime. You spout off these fairy tales as if there is any proof they exist. There is none! Common sense of all things dictates that your religious beliefs are conveniently unprovable and lack any basis in fact or evidence, much less common sense.

If angels were upset why didn't they direct the lighting to Mrs. Anthony, instead of me?

Guess what Rex, God never struck anyone with lightning. If you're going to talk religion, at least get it right.

Not afraid, Rex. I just don't believe that, if there is a God, that he/she/it skulks around like some hired goon waiting for the next command from Nancy Grace. Besides, based on your Old Testament, you can't be sure that the death of an innocent child is something that God would be opposed to. There is plenty of smiting-for-sport in your holy book.

So if there's no gods or afterlife of any kind, when you die thats it? You just stop existing? Thats lame. Lets figure out the key to immortality then.

Really CNN?! You publish this garbage as "news"?! Florida is one of the most active lightning areas in the world and there's a tropical wave moving through; lightning struck right by my house today. Does that mean the "angles aren't happy" with my house? NO! CNN is starting to get as bad as Fox "news".
