Tearful Anthony jurors ask prosecutors, where was the evidence?

Two jurors in the Casey Anthony trial say they wish the outcome had been different but prosecutors did not present enough evidence to convict Anthony of killing her daughter, Caylee, according to news reports Thursday.

"It doesn't feel good. It was a horrible decision to have to make" to find Anthony not guilty, said Jennifer Ford, who identified herself as Juror No. 3, in an interview with ABC News.

"We were sick to our stomach to get that verdict. We were crying, and not just the women," Ford said of the 12 jurors in the ABC interview.

The tears were still flowing Wednesday as Juror No. 2 (he did not want to be identified by name) spoke to Florida's St. Petersburg Times.

"I just swear to God … I wish we had more evidence to put her away. I truly do … But it wasn't there," he said in an emotional interview with the Times.

Juror No.2, who the Times reported is a black male, married and a father of two young children, said he was the last holdout on the jury who wanted to convict Anthony on a lesser charge of aggravated manslaughter, which would have carried a prison term of up to 15 years, according to the newspaper.

The prosecution's inability to prove who was Caylee's caretaker at the time of her death, Casey Anthony or the girl's grandparents, doomed the manslaughter charge, Juror No. 2 said.

"We truly don't know what happened. Somebody knows, but we don't know," he said in the Times interview.

Ford told ABC that prosecutors left key questions unanswered.

"If you're going to charge someone with murder, don't you have to know how they killed someone or why they might have killed someone, or have something where, when, why, how? Those are important questions. They were not answered," she said in the ABC interview.

An alternate juror, who was present for the trial and sequestered along with the serving jurors, said he would have voted for acquittal, too.

"They didn't show us how Caylee died. They didn't show us a motive. I'm sorry people feel that way. ... These were 17 total jurors. They really listened to this case and kept an open mind," ABC News quotes Russell Huekler as saying.

While those three people have spoken about the case, at least one of the sitting jurors wants money for the behind-the-scenes story.

The man, identified as Juror No. 6, wants $50,000 for his story and has hired a publicist, CNN contributor Howard Kurtz reports for The Daily Beast.

People talk smack about the Jurors but put your self in their shoes. There was no evidence whatsoever that she actually physically killed her. A prosecutions job is to prove beyond any resonalble doubt that the defendant is guilty they did not do that, case closed.

Man oh Man I can put myself in their shoes....THEY DIDN'T LISTEN! They did not follow the instructions...the prosecution did not have to prove motive or method of death! What a bunch of sick morons you Casey supporters are.

There is evidence of child abuse, she did not have an idea where or with whom she left the baby, she could have rented, sold her to perverts, the Jury had plans , they took 10 hrs; did not even made an effort, I read that one has a drunk driver criminal record, other with her brother beat their father, so she really was judge by her peers, other criminals, that do not see nothing wrong, how about the picture with the baby with a black eye? She did not work, she did not provide a cent for Cayle.

I agree with you. If folks want to be angry with someone it should be the prosecutors who pressed for murder one without having the solid evidence beyond a reasonable doubt to back the charge up. I commend the jury for overcoming their emotions and applying the rule of law. We can all disagree with the trial outcome but the fact is the system worked as designed and we should be thankful it did.

MissDaisy correct me if I am wrong but isn't that the prosecutors job to prove motive and method of death? Last time I checked it was.

@MissDaisy: The prosecution does not have to prove motive or method of death?!??!!?!? That is exactly the ENTIRE purpose of a prosecution!

What is wrong with you people? The jury CAN NOT convict someone based on 'common sense'. It's illegal for them to do that. That state MUST come up with the charge. When they come up with a charge, they must PROVE that charge. For example... The state cannot come in to trial and say, "Casey killed Caylee with chloroform and duct tape, convict her". The defense poked holes in the entire story. The jury cannot go into deliberation and say, "Well, the chloroform and duct tape story was wrong, but we still think she did it. GUILTY" It doesnt work that way. The jury did their job as presented to them by law. The state of Florida failed.

Tape was the murder weapon put it on your mouth and nose see how that works. Lesson learned is if you lie long enough for your child to decmposs and you NEVER call police her mom called police never Cassie. And when the police do get involved keep lying ruin peoples lives with your lies because it was CASSIE lying to police. Then if they do depending how good your lie is find your childs body then you tell another lie that you were abused and thats why you lie. Oh and last but not least hire a lawyer that will attack everyone in your life and anyone who dares to show how why and when you did it that they are all liars giving false testimony while because our little lying mommy is innocent and the police the coronor the FBI the computer techs all are out to get poor Cassie with their lies. I am glad that her justice will come when the good lord asks Caylee who put the tape on your mouth put you in garbage bags put you in the trunk to rot and then threw you as trash in the swap and that little girl says it was mommy then she will get justice. Reasonable Doubt is not No Doubt on you have to reason in order to get to reasonable.

I would never pick up a book written by a juror in the Anthony case. This profiting from the 'not-guilty' verdict. It sickens me.

Absolutely! You got another juror requesting compensation for his verdict. Clearly some of these jurors are opportunists.

The media is making the most money off this, the jurors are just asking for crumbs to be shared.
Why should the media be allowed to profit SOLELY from this?

CNN is profiting from the verdict, and they did nothing but report what happened. Why can't the people who had to sit go through the entire trial, as well as having to actually make the decision profit when they did all of the hard work? You are willing to pay "the man" – ie. pay CNN by clicking the link to read this article – but aren't willing to pay a real "man" who actually did the hard work?

Everyone wanted a piece of this. Every lawyer, every witness, the media.......even the jury knew that an acquittal would bring far more fame and recognition than a conviction.

Well you still had the fact that she reported the child missing after a month, and because of all lies to stall the investigation, clearly you could have charged her with manslaughter. This jury negated the other evidence, and solely based their decision on the death penalty only, when there was clearly more evidence to convict her on.

Sorry Shannon, you are speaking clearly on emotion. The Jurors did right. There clearly wasn't enough to sentence her to manslaughter for lieing to the police.... come on. Direct your anger at the right person, and it's not the jury.

My God did anyone watch this trial... The Prosecution did not have a case!! they could not prove anything!! they should be fired for even stepping into that courtroom with that nonsense. Casey and her Father know what happened and may God be the judge of them. You can tell her father was prepped very well by his attorney and the prosecutor plus he is an ex detective. There is no way in the world that jury could convict her. As soon as the defense came in with the drowning story the prosecution should have called "time out" and they should have brought on new charges at that point and Casey would not be walking out of jail for a long time

it seems to me like the jury only thought about the murder charge and not the child neglect/abuse. what parent doesnt call in a missing child. and if its an accident you call 911. simple logic would say she should have AT LEAST been convicted of that. i think the jurors did not understand REASONABLE doubt - and they didnt take the time to really critically think about their options for ruling. very sad verdict. i dont understand with anyone with two cents of common sense could not see this.

Because common sense doesn't apply when arriving at a verdict in a court of law. If evidence and proof are not present, the prosecution has failed. Try again.

anne, do a search on the requirements for proving aggravated child abuse. Here is what I found:

Definition of Aggravated Child Abuse in Florida
The crime of Aggravated Child Abuse can be committed in one of three ways by either:

      1. Committing an aggravated battery on a child;
      2. Willfully torturing, maliciously punishing, or willfully and unlawfully caging a child; or
      3. Knowingly or willfully abusing a child and in so doing causing great bodily harm, permanent disability, or permanent disfigurement to the child.

Prosecution had to prove abuse happened in one of the ways described above and from the verdict it is obvious they failed.

In my work I am provided with phone, pager, etc. If I do not where they are, no excuse will prevent my employer for making me pay for them.
The Jury did not take into account that Casey "lost " her daughter that was found dead.
I heard that the Jury planned to have a shocking sentence, then no words in public, TILL THE REAL BUCKS ARE PAID,OVER $500.000 is being offered.

I know that many are upset with this verdict, but invest some time learning about our legal system. In reaction to strick English law – it was designed to prevent inocent people from being found guilty. Reasonable doubt is a high standard to meet. If you're angry with the outcome, direct it at the prosecution for bringing a case that they couldn't make, not at the jury.

I think if you are going to throw stones, you had better have been in that cort room throughout the entire trial. The fact is the evidence was not there. How would you like to have been accused of something, a media frenzy has already convicted you and now you are convicted based on that...not the facts. Don't condemn Florida, the judicial system or Casey Anthony unless you have walked a mile in their shoes. I am not saying she's innocent but this jury followed the letter of the law. If this case wasn't so sensationalized by media idiots who think they matter, none of you would really care about this case. Did you know there is another similar case going on involving Billy Bob Thornton's daughter and a dead baby...why don't we care about that case as much. There are children killed everyday, you would not be interested in Caylee if someone hadn't shoved this case down your throats.

Right on!! finally someone with some sense is on here. They had no evidence to convict her on. Everyone is mad a the jury but they should be mad at the prosecutors. The state of Florida let that baby down not the jury. From the investigation all the way through the trial they let that baby down. I could have presented a better case the prosecution and im not even a lawyer.

It's pathetic that people want to make money off of a dead child. The Juror that hired a publiicist should be a shamed of himself. I can't believe Casey is already talking about wanting to have another baby or possibly adopt a child from Ireland. Anyone that would let that psycho adopt a baby should be committed.
