U.S. leaders struggle to reach debt deal as deadline clock ticks

Two days after breaking off talks with President Barack Obama on a $3 trillion-plus deficit reduction deal, House Speaker John Boehner said Sunday his last offer remains on the table as pressure mounted to avert a looming government default.

No formal negotiations were scheduled for Sunday, but Boehner told "Fox News Sunday" he intended to propose a way forward in the afternoon. Boehner also planned a conference call with the House Republican caucus at 4:30 p.m., according to congressional aides.

Both Boehner, R-Ohio, and Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner said a comprehensive deficit deal that would bring Republican support for raising the federal debt ceiling was still an option.

Maybe we should go to Washinton and tell those knotheads to take a break and we'll run the government for a while. Think we could do a better job?

Sorry, RUFFNUT, I thought it read: solar paneles "with" rechargeable batteries. The Chinese put too much lead in paint (should have none), and not enough in batteries. (The more lead in batteries the longer they last.)

As the richest, and the well connected, and those industries of 30 years of special favors rally:

No default: no worries and not one true problem: repositioning for the favor trees by those who know
the Reagan clock has run out.

I am against wasteful spending, but that doesn't mean cut SSI and Medicare. They spend money on the mating ritual of the humming bird. The lawmakers wouldn't struggle, if you froze their pay and benefits.

Yeah I think it is time to do a recall election, I can honestly believe this isn't even blamed on the president. The republicans walked out on him 3 times! It is like a total disrespect to the country when the the republicans leaders think so highly of themselves that their agendas override the will of the country and by the will I mean stay in the meetings and do your jobs.

The sooner that the American public realizes that bipartisanship doesn't work, the sooner we can we can start making progress. Here's something to chew on... if "PRO" is for, and "CON" is against, what is the difference between Congress and Progress? On that note, Go Gary Johnson!
