Casey Anthony must serve 1 year probation, judge rules

A Florida judge ruled Friday that Casey Anthony must serve one year of supervised probation for a check-fraud conviction.

Orange County Chief Judge Belvin Perry Jr. said Anthony has to report no later than noon on August 26, but that she can report earlier.

Perry also ruled that the Florida Department of Corrections is authorized to keep her address confidential to safeguard her well-being.

Anthony was cleared earlier this year of murder charges related to the death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee.

But she was convicted in January 2010 of felony check fraud charges, after she admitted she stole a checkbook from her friend Amy Huizenga and wrote five checks totaling $644.25.

Anthony's defense attorney, Lisabeth Fryer, argued that Anthony completed the probation while she was serving time in jail waiting for her trial on the murder charge.

Prosecutors disagreed.

    Sanctioned for the things he did in court that were unethical or against law practices. And have you watched the video where Casey flipped off the court and he was laughing about it. Now do you "get it"?

    If I was Casey I would just report to jail. they are going to make it happen anyway. If Lohan had just done 90 days years ago it would be over. Now they got her on the merry-go-round.

    For the folks that continue to scream it's double jeopardy, please consider the fact that she could in no way complete the terms of her probation while incarcerated. Certain stipulations were in place to ensure that justice was done and that you have learned from your mistakes (rehabilitation). They wanted her to abstain from alcohol & drugs, check in with probation officials and stay away from the victim...how can she do that while incarcerated? In addition..she received time served for several counts 4-5 for lying to the police, this is not a something you can move between two accounts to cover transactions that may come through and bounce....the time is done or it's not (It wasn't) She Can't have it both ways! Probation is given to see if you can walk the walk when you promise to do better. They hang the time over your head and wait to see if you can do the right thing. They don't have bars in jail so would this be rehabilitation? Her defense was she messed up cause she was partying…well they get to see now if she was serious about that apology.

    READ THIS! go to florida rules of professional conduct. Biaz and Mason should have a picture on this site. Judge has no other choice but to nail Biaz to the wall. Mason should be added before he retires for flipping everyone the fingar. you have to remember the lid who flipped on the states lawyer.he got 4 days and $600.00 fine. i ask myself. what type of defence wiil biaz and mason use. face it,casy is going away for along time. The Defence states in court casy is a liar. now casy has rules she has to follow on probation. i am wondering how the defence will handel this. if the courts let casy have special rules.the courts every where will be forced to let everyone have special rules. what about the 3 people who tried to kill the that policemen, should they get special rules? why does bias think that casy is so special? he needs to forget about casy and try to figuar out his own defence. the court has to deal with biaz on the contemt charges for his unprofessional behavior. oops ...my bad. casy got her 15 minutes of fame, biaz it's your tern.

    I wish everybody stop reporting on Casey Anthony. It's annoying and ridiculous!! Nancy Grace need to find something else to report on. How about helping the family find the missing 13 year old girl who went missing by her home!?? Leave Casey alone. I am sick of hearing about her. God knows the truth and he will handle whoever is involved.

      Your reply is recorded by the webmaster as a vote of interest. Good thing everyone doesn't take the time to comment about how a story "isn't" a story.

    1. Judge Perry's decision concerning Casey Anthony's probation is a correct one by the very definition of probation. Will it bother her? No, she loves attention whether it be positive or negative. I do wish that the media would stop talking about Casey's safety. By continuing to talk about poor Casey's safety it just keeps things stirred up;

    2. More importantly, in my opinion, than the probation issue is the fact that had DFS submitted their report in a timely manner the child abuse charge, at least, would most likely have changed the jury's verdict. How sad for Caley.

    Best news of the day, Anthony must serve probation, way to go Judge Perry. The Defense tried to get away with something, typical Baez.
