Suspect charged with murder in child's disappearance

A 43-year-old Missouri man has been charged with first-degree murder in the disappearance of a 3-year-old girl last seen a week ago riding her bicycle.

Authorities were searching Saturday for Breeann Rodriguez's body and bicycle in an undisclosed area in Dunklin County, the Senath Police Department and Dunklin County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

A $45,000 reward - $25,000 from the FBI and $20,000 from the Senath Marshal's office - has been offered for information leading to Breeann's recovery and the prosecution of those responsible.

    The vocabulary of British lotteries

The British national lottery celebrated its first anniversary amid enormous excitement amounting to lotterymania because a rollover prize of £40 million was offered in the first draw of 1996. Ten scratchcard lotteries, instants, are currently being operated by the same company. Those four tagged words have been the buzzwords of 1995 in the UK, attested by researchers who have examined a computer database containing the text of British newspapers. Activate the balls! is a catchphrase that became part of the language when it was used by Noel Edmunds in the first televised draw, the reference being to the coloured and numbered balls which are stirred by air jets in a transparent container and then ejected one by one to give the winning numbers.

That's about the size of it

If there is a word guaranteed to cause substantial confusion, it is billion. Until recently, most people in Britain took it to mean a million million (a 1 followed by 12 zeroes), whereas in the United States it has always meant a thousand million (a 1 followed by only 9 zeroes). There are very few situations in which a factor of a thousand difference is regarded as insignificant and the variation in definition has caused considerable confusion. The need for a common meaning for the word has caused us British largely to capitulate: in most fields now the American usage prevails and indeed it is now official Government policy to use the American billion in all its publications.

How about charging her parents with neglect for not watching her while she was riding her bike. There really needs to be some sort of test before people are allowed to have custody of a child.

What, your telling me that as parents we now need to watch every movement of our children? Even when they are riding their bikes in the neighborhood? Give me a break. Then your Mom & Dad need to be charged with neglect for allowing you to go unseen sometime in your childhood. There is no way to watch them every monute of the day. Not possible. What we really need to do is stop allowing these child killers back on the streets. I'll bet you that this guy has a record. I'll even bet you that a judge or 2 has allowed him out time and time again. How many times does it take before judges keep people like this locked up and throw away the key? If there is a over crowding problem at most of our prisons then let the prisoners build more cages. As a parent of 5 children there is no way to watch all of them, all the time. You have to have some faith in humanity and God. Please do not point the finger at a greiving family, they have felt the loss of a innocent young daughter and need our prayers right now, not bashing. May you find some comfort knowing that others are thinking and praying for you at this low point in your life.
      God Bless,
      Bob

Bob.. I absolutely agree with you... When I was growing up as a young girl in Colorado, we were safe to ride our bikes, play hopscotch, and play with other friends in our front yards without constant parental supervision. But times have really changed. It is a shame that we can't trust our fellow humans to not mistreat our children ..... I always insist my children used the 'buddy' system - but even that doesn't ensure that some maniac won't try. But, as you said, at this time in the family's grieving period, we have no right to judge... they need our support, not our judgement.
