Texas death row inmate executed

Texas death row inmate Lawrence Russell Brewer, 44, was executed by lethal execution at 7:21 p.m. ET Wednesday, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice said.

Brewer was one of three men found guilty for his involvement in the dragging death of James Byrd 13 years ago.

Brewer and two other white men kidnapped the 49-year-old black man on the night of June 7, 1998. They chained him by the ankles to the back of a pickup truck and dragged him for 3 ½ miles down a country road near Jasper, Texas. Byrd died when he was decapitated after he hit a culvert.

Prosecutors said the crime, which they described it as one of the most vicious hate crimes in U.S. history, was intended to promote Brewer's fledgling white supremacist organization.

What, no protests from black people? No calls to 400 courts trying to get them to overrule the jury?

You, sir, apparently know nothing about this or any other case - as revealed by your comment, which is either intentionally callous or unintentionally stupid, if not both.

Why? Brewer admitted to dragging a man to his death. You see an equivalency in the two cases?

Lethal injection is too kind for this monster. He should have had to experience 1/2 of the pain that Mr. Byrd had to endure in his final moments of life.

There was no doubt in this case. None whatsoever. You wanna uphold your government and our legal system, you want to hold it so highly like you did with Casey Anthony? Then fine. Accept this execution for what it is. What you say your legal system is all about. JUSTICE. With Troy Davis? There's absolutely too much doubt to be sentenced to death. TOO MUCH DOUBT. I'm sure Juror #3 will agree with me.

They need to put inmates in jail for life and have them work off their dept to society. Make them do manual labor.

You need to leave Hispanics out of this debate. I now Manuel LAbor, and he is a good guy who has never done anything to harm anybody.

You would thing that jesse jackson and al sharpton could have split up so one could have been down there fighting for this guys life, instead of both being up there in GA. Can't figure that one out.

Why would even a pea brain wonder that? You realize Brewer confessed to the crime he died for?
