The death toll from Thailand's worst flooding in half a century reached 506 Sunday, as flood waters inched toward downtown Bangkok, the interior ministry said.
By Sunday, authorities ordered evacuations for residents in eight of Bangkok's 50 disctricts.
Across the country, the flooding - now in its third month - has affected 25 of Thailand's 64 provinces.
Bangkok's central business district is still dry but other parts of the bustling metropolis of 12 million people are inundated.
Floods are an annual occurrence in the country but it has been particularly acute this year.

I feel sorry for the Thai people that are dying and suffering right now, because of the flood. But unlike what the old military coop of Thailand is telling you. It is not a natural disaster, I know some people in Thailand that know the reasons behind it all, sadly it is all political, but they are scare of telling the truth. The old prime minister that took over with his corrupt military friends is the one to blame. He kick out the old prime minister, when he went out of the country.
And use his wicked military connections to take over the country 5 years ago, you can youtube it, videos and facts don't lie. He was later force out by the Thai people with a vote a couple of months ago. During his reign there was no natural disaster, after the new prime minister got voted in, he tried all the tricks to keep power, but later had to relinquished them. So he had his military goons released the dams, so the flood waters will come down and flood Thailand. Think about it if it didn't rain, hard and heavy, how can the whole country be flooded in a couple of days.
Since he is an educated man, and some of Thailand are uneducated, he has use his intelligence and connections to have so call educated scholars to support his claim. I feel sorry for them, selling their country's future for monetary gains. He and them are trying to discredit the new prime minister, so he can get his old job back.
How disgraceful, I hope somebody in CNN reads this and report the truth about why Thailand is underwater, without excess rain to flood it. Open your mind this is all for political gain.
