Comment of the Morning:
"How can an entire lineup of candidates start at point zero and continue to dig themselves into a hole? They need to call in the anomaly scientists on this one."–JustTruth1
An 'oops' that could mean 'over' for Perry
Responding to a question about working across the aisle with Democrats, Texas Gov. Rick Perry introduced his own agenda - cutting three federal agencies - and then blanked out on the third. Debate expert Todd Graham says his gaffe will do major damage to his presidential bid, reinforcing earlier bad impressions. Most CNN.com readers said the gaffe was less important than his policies.
thadea said "His policies, not his 'oops moment,' should have been his ruination." barbie1311 said, "I totally agree. I would never judge him based on that alone." TheRealist20 said, "Keeping this ignoramus out of the presidency is what really matters."
bardfast said, "Sorry Rick, but it’s not your 'oops' that has sunk you. You deny evolution. We deny your bid for the White House."
tmch4006 said, "I will vote for Obama, regardless of the GOP candidate that is selected. However, I do feel bad for Perry. I've had my moments where something I know very well slips beyond my ability to speak about. It simply means I've had a temporary brain fart. I always recover and hate the idea that people would think I'm dumb because of it. I doubt Perry is dumb ... ignorant, perhaps."
sunpacific said, "That the fifth candidate is goofy is not big news. The big news is that Republicans were actually rushing to anoint this goofball to the presidency before they even knew him. The biggest news is how scary the teapublican lack of judgment truly is."
jkota11 said, "This may be the most pathetic lineup of candidates in U.S. history." markmaximus said, "Huntsman, very smart and nuanced, speaks Mandarin Chinese! What is he doing with these clowns?"
captcorajus said, "One would think that the Republicans had a fairly easy election win considering how the economy is still tanking. A sour economy is frequently the death knell for an incumbent president, yet, this group of right-wing extremists - and dare I say, DUMB candidates - is agonizing to watch."
DzickDzock said, "He should have stuck with his thoughts on skipping the rest of the debates. At least then people would be left to guess what he's made of. Now, he's erased all doubt."
bstnfeeparty said, " 'I would ... I would do away with the education.' LMFAO, that is, I would laugh if it were not so painfully true, and sad." barbie1311 said, "In his defense, one has to remember that these guys live mostly in Jesus land, where it doesn't matter what you know, but what you believe."
newstradomus said, "OK, so Perry is pretty much finished, Cain isn't going to survive the primaries, and the tea party hates Romney; it's looking better for Ron Paul!" chrissl said, "Paul appeals to the same 10%, no matter what. Now and forever."
VinceK said, "From your lips to God's ears: 'I would love for Paul to be the nominee!
Love,
Democrats' "

Perry even looks like Bush. Deja Vu all over again
Dear USA:
We tried to tell you!
Signed,
Texans Who Have Voted Against Perry Every Time
The OOPs heard around the world.
I don't think I want a more extreme version of George W Bush. America had 8 years of that administration already. And you see how the country turned out.
When he announces who his "Cheney" will be, the person who will actually be president while he "cuts brush," people will think again.
I would still be a Republican if not for the Tea Party. These extremists have turned the Grand Old Party into Greedy Old Politicians. I would rather vote for Obama than vote for some ideological nutjobs incapable of compromise, lacking human decency, and basically flying in the face of what every qualified economist suggests for economic improvement. They want government to stay out of big business, but they love the idea of big business meddling with government.
Well said! I feel exactly the same about the state of GOP these days
You go Steve! You want to run? It sounds like you would be a good candidate
You mean all those rich old country-club republicans didn't exist before the Tea party? That's news to me......
Could the poor fellow be experiencing early mental degradation? Does it run in his family?
Wasn't he a football player? Too many head tackles.
Perry=Bush and Cain=Clarence Thomas and Romney=?
ok I'll take a stab at it:
Romney = Wall Street
Barney Rubble
Where's Britney " Oops I did it again" Spears when you need her?
Those who support Ron Paul are like the lunatic fringe who believes in UFOs and hides from "black helicopters." Ron Paul is destined to be remembered as another in a long line of extremist ideologues whose claim to fame will be the number of "Don't blame me, I voted for Ron Paul" bumperstickers on the rusting cars of true believers some years from now, cultural kitsch heirs to the "Impeach Earl Warren" stickers that once adorned the vehicles of right wing segregationists.
I keep asking why L. Ron Paul, a Randite AND Libertarian, is considered 'conservative,' and nobody can tell me. Rand hated churches and the poor, and Libertarians want to legalize ALL drugs, including steroids, hormones, and heroin. What's the conservative connection, his money?
Most of you are so correct. Anybody who still thinks (as if 8 yrs. Of the last bunch of Republicans was not proof enough) that the Republicans, ( Not to even mention the CRAZT TEABAGGERS) care a thing about the middle class needs to have their heads examined. Even the Republican Party in all their lunacy now regrets letting the Tea Party (WOLF) into the house that is not going to eat them from within. I say good for them. It is just amazing how anyone still stands behind the Republican Party??
Painful to watch.
Not to me. I don't want Bush Lite© anywhere near my government. Let him go back to Texas and secede to Mexico like he wants.
Not one of them answered the Europe question. Not one. Mitt Romney even subtly threatened Obama from a US bank bailout over Italy, knowing full well, the president may not have a choice as it would send the economy in a down spiral again. and did he offer any alternatives? Nope, not one. An economic collapse is, of course, what Mitt wants. what does he cares? he is recession proof, and a disaster would almost certainly assure him the presidency. that is why reps urge their voters not to hire anybody, block any efforts for jobs, and block any attempts this president has at helping the economy.
It is no longer about "whats good for the country" it is now just "How do I get the power".. And they tout themselves as "modest god fearing christians who follow the teachings of bible".. pfft..
Here's a thought, the presidential campaign is essentially one long drawn out and painful interview cycle (like many folks who are struggling for jobs are going through)....it is well known that employers can afford to take a long time to select their candidates for the jobs and have many many interviews with their potential employers. My question is how many of us would hire an individual that behaved the way Perry has done in the debates, if we were conducting a job interview???
scary perry
I will choose OOPS over the person who said there are 57 STATES
It's good that you are intelligent enough to see those are both brainfahrts. Palin saying Paul Revere was pro-British, then holding a press conference to insist it was TRUE was the scariest thing I've seen this year. Perry didn't come out swinging with "There were always only two, I never said three at all" and Obama hasn't written a book about the 57 states.
That one was an obvious mistake... and Perry's brain freeze was also an unfortunate mistake...however, you can't even compare the very long string of absolute ignorant comments these people make to the President's speech abilities. Can't even compare... the President is much more elocuent and intelligent. But leave that aside, the foundation of any of these people is shaky at best. I'll take an occasional speech slip up anytime over that. If Perry would have had good performances otherwise, and good ideas, this wouldn't be an issue. But the guy is just plain ignorant. Period.
eloquent? if using his teleprompter...
you must be a fox news watcher..again, as I said before, you people seem to be brainwashed to repeat the same thing they say. for your information, the teleprompter is just a tool. Some people use notes, and some (Palin) write on their hands...(genius!). He often does not even use it and still speaks elocuently...you probably are not well informed, as many fox news watchers are. Just get educated and start coming out of your tiny little bubble and you will see there is no comparison when it comes to this, besides, who the hell cares whether he uses a tool to give a speech, as long as he does it right???
