Sandusky arrested on new child rape charges

[Updated at 2:34 p.m. ET] Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was arrested Wednesday on additional child rape charges, which raise the number of alleged victims from eight to 10 people, the Pennsylvania attorney general's office said.

The new charges include four counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and two counts of unlawful contact with a minor, involving two new alleged victims who were boys at the time of the alleged encounters.

Sandusky, who maintains his innocence, faces a preliminary hearing on December 13 at 8:30 a.m.

"Today's criminal charges were recommended by a statewide investigating grand jury, based on evidence and testimony that was received following the initial arrest of Sandusky on November 5," Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly said.

The new alleged victims - identified as Victim 9 and Victim 10 - encountered Sandusky at The Second Mile charity, a nonprofit organization he founded for underprivileged children.

Victim 9 was between 11 and 12 years old when he met the former coach around 2004, who allegedly gave him gifts and money and took the boy to university football games, according to the statement.

Sandusky allegedly met Victim 10 in 1997 after a counselor recommended the boy attend the charity "because of difficulties in his home life."

A grand jury report made public last month detailed 40 charges against the former coach in a child sex abuse scandal that, at the time, involved eight alleged victims, spanning 15 years.

A look at the grand jury report

The eight alleged victims identified in that report, like the two new accusers, first encountered Sandusky through the Second Mile, the attorney general's office said.

"As in many of the other cases identified to date, the contact with Sandusky allegedly fit a pattern of 'grooming' victims," Kelly said. "Beginning with outings to football games and gifts, they later included physical contact that escalated to sexual assaults."

It's not like there are not cases like Democrat fundraiser for Ed Rendell, Greg Bucceroni, who is also from Pennsylvania, who molested dozens of boys before he died of AIDS in prison, while serving time for his crimes. Perversion knows no party lines.

Got the name wrong, the democrat fundraiser was Ed Savitz. Bucceroni was the victim who reported him. Sorry for the error but the point remains true.

Also, The victim, Bucceroni, is alleging that Ed Rendell knew and did nothing because Savitz was raising him so much money. Sound familiar (JoePa).

Yes. Because ten boys coming forward and an eyewitness to sodomizing a ten year old boy aren't enough proof. id10t

Wait, are you comparing the treatment of an accused serial child rapist to the treatment of father's in family court?

That is a serious victim complex you've got going.

Right, when 10 people come forward we should refuse to investigate because that's unfair to the poor child abuser.

Actually learn your history fool. The Romans honored and loved death, so thumbs down actually meant live – thumbs up meant kill him. Look it up.

Bull S. haha, I laugh at you. Family court let a raging lunatic keep seeing his kids until he road rage drove and killed them. How's that for daddy of the year. Maybe family court stinks on all ends. I'm sure the molested kids were consulted about the law before they were abused. yeahhhhh.

Agree with you. Should really investigate everyone who wants to work with Children. Children all over the world should be protected from adult predators

Yes, parents should check out adults who befriend their kids with gifts, etc. Sandusky was preying on children who had no parents in the picture which was exactly the reason they were so vulnerable, and he knew it.

Unless he lied, McQueary witnessed Sandusky sodomizing a child after he heard the slapping sounds of Sandusky's body against the childs buttocks. How can you explain or dismiss that? Who cares for the 10 year old?

Whats disturbing are there are people out there, that are willing to believe these alligations are false & lies. The man is a football hero! he can do no wrong! Lets riot because this coach lost his job.... never mind the victims as long as we can win win win.... it's pathetic. He's a sociopath a disgsuting child molester. If he where anyone else he would have been lynched a long time ago. Its just a game. These victims lifes are impacted by this piece of fiflth forever so he could get his kicks.

Get your facts straight. This man is not a football hero, and was not an employee of Penn State when the eye witnessed pedophilia occurred. The "rioting" was done in defense of Paterno – who was accused of nothing illegal by the courts. And I am able to have sympathy for both the victims and Paterno at the same time. Sandusky, however...

I agree with Tony. With Sandusky's exposure (no pun) to so many kids and the fact that he had them with him all the time, I suspect there are many more victims. Most are probably too embarrassed or ashamed to come forward. They need to keep him locked up this time so the victims can get justice and closure before he (does the right thing and) off's himself.

This time with a new judge perhaps there will be no bail. Others affected might be more willing to come forward if they feel he can't physically get to them.
