U.S. wants drone back from Iran, Obama says

President Barack Obama said Monday that the United States has asked Iran to return a U.S. drone aircraft that Iran claims it recently brought down in Iranian territory.

"We've asked for it back. We'll see how the Iranians respond," Obama said in a news conference.

The president's comments come one day after it was reported that an Iranian official said the country would not return the drone.

"No nation welcomes other countries' spy drones in its territory, and no one sends back the spying equipment and its information back to the country of origin," said Gen. Hossein Salami, deputy commander of the Armed Forces, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.

"It makes no difference where this drone originated and which group or country sent it to invade our air space," Salami said. "This was an act of invasion and belligerence."

Because Barry boi asked for it back the Iranians are going to give it back?? Or is this another "hope & change" thingy? Does anyone else here think that "maybe" the Iranians just might take this thing apart and "just maybe" duplicate it and start flying over Israel and Iraq and Afganistan and let the Talliban or other groups know what is going on? And barry's tough talk "we'll see how the Iranians respond" is that suppose to be a threat or what?

If the US caught an Iranian for spying on US soil, would they return that person to Iran? A mixture of arrogance, ignorance, stupidity and incompetence....

Obama is definetly a BIG JOKER! This is the most ridiculous thing he has ever said since he got the power.... This spy plane invades the enemy's territory, the enemy shoots it down and then it has to hand over the junk to the origin. I cannot listen to such a joke made by a president of the USA

....Where do I start?-Let's see....Well, I usually stand by my boy Obama because he needs all of the support he can muster, given the fact that the Republicans have blamed him for everything from the Kennedy Assassinations to the crucifixion of Christ.

However, on this one, I will stand with him, but at the very least 2000 paces to the right.

The equivalence of asking the Iranians to return an aerial vehicle that was being used to spy on their sovereign nation, is the metaphoric equivalence of me breaking into my neighbors house while she is at work-leaving behind some of the tools of which I used to break into her house-- and then latter demand she return the very tools of which I used to break into her house.

Some things are better left alone and unspoken-apparently the presidential advisors do not share these same sentiments of wisdom....Artofwar

Actually "Aviation Week" on-line had a good article on why we didn't yell and scream at Iran when they found it. It's basically old technology. 2008 stuff.

I know why Obama did this. It never hurts to ask was the overriding philosophy. He could never be blamed for not even at least asking. However he has and subsequently got the expected response. Now this issue needs to be dropped. They have it and WILL get the technology regardless of what those in a palpable state of denial think. "Oh it's a parade float...Oh if it was shot down it would have been destroyed...Oh the Iranians don't have the technology to bring it down...Oh I'll say anything to disparage the Iranians and be willfully oblivious to the truth since the truth and my hypocrisy hurts too much" .
As far as Cheney and his criticizing Obama for cutting our losses and not escalating this by sending fighter jets to attempt to destroy the aircraft and getting shot down handing over prisoners to the Iranians, that man is just an idiot who would bleed this country dry in an effort to satiate his unquenchable thirst for war. He has no credibility and his approval rating is even lower.
