A large metal ball that fell from space into the Namibian grasslands last month is not alien, officials say, but that's about all they know for certain about the object.
According to a report on The Namibian website, the 13-pound metal sphere with two bumps on its poles was found by a farmer near Onamatunga in the Omunsati region between November 15 and November 20. Explosions were heard in the area before the discovery, but no evidence of an explosion was seen around the area where the object was found.
Paul Ludik, director of the country's National Forensic Science Institute, told The Namibian the sphere, with a circumference of 3.6 feet, is made of a "sophisticated" metal alloy that is known to man, but he said it has no markings that would identify it. No international space agency has claimed ownership, he said.
“A number of tests have been performed on the object, and it appears to be hollow. We are still busy with a detailed examination of the object,” The Namibian quotes him as saying.
Ludik told The Namibian that the object poses no cause for alarm, and that such reports of metallic spheres falling from space are common in the Southern Hemisphere.
So should we expect a run on helmets at sporting goods stores south of the equator?

OK. Fine. I'm not sure why none of the space agencies of the world will acknowledge it, but it would seem to make more sense if someone did. Otherwise it could easily be something that fell off a truck or tractor and then been discovered. I mean, com'on now.
Ok, I'll go. It's a float from the net that earth is caught in.
ITS ELENIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
" reports of metallic spheres falling from space are common in the Southern Hemisphere."
Say what?
It's that multi-billion dollar thing-a-ma-jig the goes on the whatcha-ma-call-it next to the due-hicky that was dropped by a NASA during one of the space walks.
So good
Oh no!! It's the Continum Transfunctioner.
seriously what is it??
@Matt: I was thinking the same thing!
Have you accepted Jesus?
You can't show me the respect of a response? I shall pray for you.
You do not want to die in your sins. Come to Jesus! Come to the light!
Its the GOP escape pod!
No one wants to die. But die we shall.
No, Chris, with Jesus we can have eternal life!
The 1% already have the gene therapy to turn off the aging gene- we iz screwed!
Blessed is he who is not ashamed of the Lord!
Here is the right answer:
Cr0we
But seriously... It's a pressure tank from a Russian rocket.

PS
Moffat County is in the Northern Hemisphere must be common here too.
Ahh, one of the nitrogen tanks we use to pressurize our fuel and oxidizer tanks! They help force the fuel or oxidizer out of the tank toward the pump and keep the tank drain covered with f/o.
Its not Alien because its a known metal...lol. Poor aliens- they are going to have to invent new metals.
"Reports of metallic spheres falling from space are common in the Southern Hemisphere."
Are they, now? And no one has claimed them or identified them? And because we are able to concoct the alloy from which they are made, we're sure they're not alien? I'm a skeptic, but is there some reason we can't figure out what they are?
Get serious. Its alien space junk. Why does it have no wires or inlets for oxygen or any inlet or outlet. Its an alien artifact that we don't understand. Our space probes cost hundreds of thousands of dollars per pound to put in orbit. We don't put empty metal balls up. I hope not. Also why did it not burn up on reenty? Its because it entered on a slow trajectory under intelligent alien control and then came apart from some mishap.
What an imagination. What it looks like is fuel or O2 vessel for a rocket. The two protusions appear to be the inlet and outlet which being more exposed than the rest of the sphere melted shut.
looks like a toilet float
AHA! So THAT'S where my satellite is! Maaaaan. I've been lookin ALL OVER for that thing! I hope they'll send it back...
