Mysterious metal ball from space falls in Namibia

A large metal ball that fell from space into the Namibian grasslands last month is not alien, officials say, but that's about all they know for certain about the object.

According to a report on The Namibian website, the 13-pound metal sphere with two bumps on its poles was found by a farmer near Onamatunga in the Omunsati region between November 15 and November 20. Explosions were heard in the area before the discovery, but no evidence of an explosion was seen around the area where the object was found.

Paul Ludik, director of the country's National Forensic Science Institute, told The Namibian the sphere, with a circumference of 3.6 feet, is made of a "sophisticated" metal alloy that is known to man, but he said it has no markings that would identify it. No international space agency has claimed ownership, he said.

“A number of tests have been performed on the object, and it appears to be hollow. We are still busy with a detailed examination of the object,” The Namibian quotes him as saying.

Ludik told The Namibian that the object poses no cause for alarm, and that such reports of metallic spheres falling from space are common in the Southern Hemisphere.

So should we expect a run on helmets at sporting goods stores south of the equator?

  1. A float for a pump

Not much of a mystery. This is a metal float often used in industry and agriculture. This one probably came from an irrigation system. Here's a picture:

Yup. Looks like the one in my toilet tank. Those dark horizontal lines on it could be from the surface of the liquid it's been floating in. Also, don't objects entering from space tend to have charring and burn marks all over them? Could be a pressure vessel, I suppose, but that still doesn't mean it's from space. Could have been on an airplane. Could have fallen off a truck.

  2. Nazi Flying Saucers

Most people laugh at the idea of Nazi flying saucers being captured after WW2 and brought back along with the scientists and engineers who desogned them, when in fact it is a matter of historical record. Goto Youtube.com and browse 'nazi flying saucers' to view overwhleming evidence including film footage of Hitler inspecting them. That saucer the FBI reported crashed at Roswell was a BMW model J-38. The Skoda corporation also manufactured 100's of saucers for the Nazis. This is real folks.

did this really not remind anyone of the war? aka foo-fighters? orbs that traveled next to the planes during this time.... thing is its hollow with poles on each side as if it may ride on the magnetic field of the planet. otherwise you would think it would have some type of gun powder or something inside it. interesting either way, what type of metal is it?dd

Foo fighters were jet powered nazi flying saucers. Literally hundreds were filmed flying over Germany in the years leading up to WW2, and dozens of American soldiers and pilots reported seeing them during the war. Youtube 'nazi flying saucers' and see them.

Nice work! I went to your link and I agree 100% that it is a Helium Tank from the Russian Salyut 7-Cosmos 1686 (Kosmos 1686) spacecraft assembly, which went out of control and fell to Earth as a fireball, 3 to 4 years earlier than expected.
