Iran's leader: War would be detrimental to U.S.

The supreme leader of Iran issued a blunt warning Friday that war would be detrimental to the United States - and that Iran is ready to help anyone who confronts "cancerous" Israel.

"You see every now and then in this way they say that all options are on the table. That means even the option of war," Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said during Friday prayers in Tehran. "This is how they make these threats against us.

"Well, these kinds of threats are detrimental to the U.S.," he said. "The war itself will be 10 times as detrimental to the U.S."

He said Iran will support any nation or group that fights against Israel.

"The Zionist regime is really the cancerous tumor of this region and it needs to be removed and will be removed," Khamenei said to a cheering crowd.

He said Iran doesn't interfere in other nations but has aided militant groups Hamas and Hezbollah in conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon.

His comments came after stern comments Friday from Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

"Today, unlike in the past, there is a broad global understanding that it is crucial to stop Iran becoming nuclearized and that no options should be taken off the table," he said.

Barak said allowing Iran to continue on its path will be far more complex and dangerous in blood and money than cutting it off now.

"Those who say in English, 'later,' may find later is too late," he said.

The real cancer is the ideology behind Iran’s constant instigation…

Iran will find out just how detrimental war can be if it doesn’t veer from the path it is on.

Like most of you, I sometimes wonder what is going on behind the scenes that we don't hear about. I would guess that Israel constantly asks what the repurcussions there will be from the US, EU, and other Western countries if they bomb. They are probably waiting to hear that it will be OK. But I also wonder if the West is pushing the Arab League to do something instead. There is a lot of history between the Arabs and Persians, between Sunni and Shia. But I don't think for a second that the Arab League wants anything to do with such a conflict.

No BOMBO, they would much rather the US and NATO do their dirty work for them. That way they can say it was the west imperialists who are trying to take over everything.

I always wonder what these fools are smoking? And you look at some of their leaders, like, WOW, this person is really crazy and should be in a nut house. If anything I am thinking that Isreal will start this one. They do not take anything from anyone, especially a "leader" that says it wants to wipe them off the face of the earth! YES, we will be involved, at least pulled into it, to help our "friends". The problem is how these other countries will react. IF we do get involved then it should be cruise missels and drones only!
