Muslim group to rally against NYC police commissioner

A prominent Muslim civil liberties group plans to hold a rally Friday outside New York City police headquarters, continuing its call for the resignation of Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and other reforms within the department.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) wants Kelly to step down because of his participation in a film that they say paints all Muslims as terrorists.

"Due to the fact that the police commissioner and Mayor (Michael) Bloomberg both refuse to accept the severity of their actions, or meet with local Islamic leaders in an attempt to mend the situation, we as a community with full force must stand up to the mistreatment and dismissal of our community at large," the group's website said.

"Silence and lack of reaction to this pressing issue will only allow this type systematic persecution of a minority community to continue and escalate without any reprimand."

I live in NYC, and I see the interactions of religious groups here daily. I know two devout Muslims well and encounter many others. Some New York Muslims are fine people with religion as a powerful force for good in their lives, and others hate America and use religion as an excuse to vent their personal frustrations with as much destruction and belligerence as they can execute without repercussions.
NYC Christians behave very much the same way with a different style and holy book, but it was easier for Americans to act together when there weren't many Muslims. See: KKK, Gay Bashings.

Can someone please make me understand just WHY these people are allowed to come here and stay? They obviously hate Americans. Do not obey the laws of our land and the terrorist attacks came from that religion. R we Stupid or what as a nation?

"Can someone please make me understand just WHY these people are allowed to come here and stay?"

Because 1) America doesn't belong to you. 2) Its a nation of immigrants 3) Its wasn't founded as an exclusive "Christian" nation. 4) "These people" is a superbly condescending tone where you are considered "these" by "them." 5) Barring any religious group would be considered rightfully discrimination and illegal. 6) Your presumption that "these people" are the only ones committing terrorist acts is all one needs to know about your superb intellegence a la the Christian Norweigan terrorist Anders Breivik, or Tim McVeigh, or Eric Rudolph, or Unibomber.

May 20. Germany has a campaign and a contest called Freedom over Islam (something like that) and the winners of the contest to make fun of Islam will get cash prizes.

CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator to an Islamic terrorist group. Kelly must be doing something right if he is getting Islamic terrorist buddies angry.. Guess what? Islamic terrorists have been unable to harm New Yorkers since 911. Good job Kelly! Give Kelly a promotion.
