Police: Suicide attack on U.S. Capitol foiled

U.S. Capitol Police and the FBI on Friday arrested a Moroccan man who was planning a suicide attack on the Capitol, police and a federal law-enforcement official said.

The man received what he thought was a vest with explosives, but the materials in the vest had been rendered inoperable by law enforcement, Justice Department spokesman Dean Boyd said.

He was arrested as soon as he accepted the vest from undercover officers, the federal law-enforcement source said.

The man had been closely monitored as part of a lengthy and extensive undercover operation, police said, adding U.S. Capitol Police had been "intimately" involved in the investigation.

The public was never in danger, police said.

Nice sting, but there must be a lot more that are able to act alone without the FBI's help...how come we never hear about them and not a single blast has gone off since 9/11? Hard to believe. Or is it all censored by the government?

Kinda makes you think back a month or 2 ago when they prosecuted that dude who supposedly fired at the white house. They discovered the bullets holes a few days after it happened, determined it came from a drive by, but were able to track down the perp???

The article mentioned it was a long undercover sting. I wonder how long they worked with this nutto before he'd agree to wear the vest? You know they could have busted the idiot months ago on a lessor charge, but needed that career enhancing Suicide Bomber Vest Arrest on their personnel file.

OK, I think the concept of "personhood" has gone too far! This is totally spawned by Citizens United! When a Capitol building, or a whole city can commit "suicide" isn't it time to dismantle this nutty "personhood" decree!? I vote yes! The End!!
