Indiana lawmaker: Girl Scouts in league with Planned Parenthood

An Indiana lawmaker who opposes celebrating the centennial anniversary of the Girl Scouts of America says the group "sexualizes" young girls, promotes homosexuality and is a tactical arm of Planned Parenthood.

In a letter sent to members of the Republican Caucus, Indiana State Rep. Bob Morris said many parents were "abandoning the Girl Scouts because they promote homosexual lifestyles."

"As members of the Indiana House of Representatives, we must be wise before we use the credibility and respect of the 'Peoples' House' to extend legitimacy to a radicalized organization," he said, warning them not "to endorse a group that has been subverted in the name of liberal progressive politics and the destruction of traditional American family values."

In the Febraury 18 letter, obtained by CNN affiliate WRTV-TV, Morris lobbied lawmakers to oppose a nonbinding resolution celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts.

Morris was the only member not to sign the measure.

When I was young I was in girl scouts. I am somewhat offended by what my neighbor in Indiana is saying about them. I didn't see any of that sort of thing going on.

My mother was a scout leader, and I was her last child (couldn't have a girl). No I didn't sleep with them or take showers with them. But I went to meetings with them, and got to go camping with them. They were like a bunch of older sisters.
This lawmaker doesn't understand they instill responsibility with girls, not this crap thier talking about. This really makes me mad.

What's so wrong with talking about it? They see Viagra commercials daily and snicker. In todays age, maybe it's worth talking about. Trust me, the boys know what's goin' on. Knowledge is a tool for their protection, imo.

Ahh ok jeff, i apologize. I thought you were being humorous as you so often are. :) I suspect this whole issue is really in retaliation for the request on vasectomy law. What is most obvious is this character is clueless in doing his job!

Why doesn't this inane GOP politician talk about the perverted things that are allegedly going on with priests and young boys at his church? Girl Scouts? Come on, just another GOP politician who is way out of touch with reality.

If he had any clue about the girl scouts he would know that the ages of girls most interested in scouting are the very years when their life changing opinions are formed. If they are taught about promiscuity and birth control, so much the better!

I like how he ranted about this and said that he "web searched" the information but didn't share his source. If you're going to represent the people of your state, then give them correct information to make informed decisions. Idiot!

    @chrissy
My mom died of cancer several years ago, before she got to hold my son or daughter of my first and only wife of 37 years. So the girl scout thing is just a fond memory of my youth. Those girls now probably in thier late 60's. ;)

Seriously, this big windbag needs to visit OZ and hope he can find a brain! As the oldest of 5 girls, i can only imagine how hard we woulda been on my parents had we NOT had the moral values we acquired by being girl scouts! And i KNOW my girls improved!

Leave it the radical fanatics to demonize even the GS in their rabid desire to make s e x dirty and forbidden.
Both of my daughters were in the GS, and they focused more on family values and yes, God...but keep in mind that they primarily focused on bsic life skills...they didn't talk about bc and s e x because that is the job of the Parent and the schools.
It's a new low, even for these guys...

And just why are these conservatives so bloody obsessed with s e x, anyway?
    Stay out of people's pants!

And I see nothing in the Bible that forbids children's social groups...so don't try that.

If ya don't want to buy their cookies, DON'T!
Ya don't have to portray them as a training ground for harlots.
This guy is a grade A asshat!

I do not know what this man was trying to accomplish, but if he wanted to let the world know what a delusional dork he is, he succeeded.
      Se xualizing little girls, huh?
I think HE is se xualizing them, not the GS.
