Andrew Breitbart, well-known conservative blogger, dead at 43

Andrew Breitbart, a well-known conservative blogger, has died, his attorney confirmed Thursday. He was 43.

Breitbart was also known as a pundit on conservative television shows and got his start helping to run the original right-wing online media behemoth, the Drudge Report, then started his own website.

Breitbart was the first to post the infamous Twitter photos of U.S. Rep Anthony Weiner last year, in which the congressman appeared barechested and in his underpants. Weiner eventually stepped down amid the scandal.

An In Memoriam post on his website breitbart.tv said that it was with a "terrible feeling of pain and loss" that they announces his death.

"Andrew passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles," the post said. "We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior. Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love."

According to the post, in a new conclusion to one of his books, he wrote about how much he loved his job and fighting for what he believed in.

Andrew recently wrote a new conclusion to his book, Righteous Indignation:

"Andrew is at rest, yet the happy warrior lives on, in each of us," the post stated.

Are those who disagreed with this person's political philosophy/tactics automatically dependant on the government to a greater extent then yourself? I mean, is not posible to find this person's public persona offensive without being a 'left-wing nut', or a drain on society?

It's funny that you can let a person get under your skin so bad that you are thankful he died.

He was not a reasonable man, when he hated he hated big, but as people say: " If you have nothing good to say about the dead ones, dont say anything at all".

43 is pretty young to go. It is a tragedy.

Wow ... I hope that you don't really believe this. If so, we have some scary, unstable people browsing CNN. How can so many people hate someone they don't even know for having different political beliefs? Is there not room for different political ideologies in this nation? I thought this was one of the many things that made this nation great.

    • The REAL Truth...

Wow Pete – I guess anonymity is a good thing on the net. If you said that to someone's face you'd most likely be picking yourself up off the floor right now.. unless of course you are merely trolling.

Grant – I'm being sarcastic. More just poking fun at people that would be that extreme.

Breibart was a real jerk, but its sad for his family he died young.
P.S. – I make the same type of statements whenever a famous Yankee player dies...

Good old partisan hatred. The way that mere posters behave makes it quite clear that no two political groups will ever get along. This means, of course, that nothing in the government will ever get done. Who taught you to hate so much?????
Anyway, no matter who or what this gentleman was, dying at 43 is terrible, and very, very tragic for his family. So, quit saying horrible things. How would you feel if it was YOUR relative, and people made statements like that? Pretty safe behind your computer, isn't it???

Whatever... the hatred he held for his fellow man probably ate him up inside. Like most "con"servatives (unlike Conservatives), he contributed nothing positive and fueled the divisiveness we have today. I'm sorry for his family but that's about it.

And his liberal counter-parts? Do you hold them with the same vitriol and disdain that you hold Breitbart? Afterall, they're dividing us just like he was, right? Or is what the left does acceptable since it falls in line with your political ideology?

All Breitbart ever did was expose things that actually happened. The Acorn video actually happened, he did not misrepresent it, he merely released it to the media.

Likewise with the Shirley Sherrod case – Breitbart merely released the video to the press who ran with it. (and by the way – contrary to partisan spin, Breitbart did NOT lie about Sherrod's statements nor did he "selectively edit" the video, he supplied the ENTIRE video to the press)

When Breitbart released the Anthoney Weiner tweets, everyone said that Breitbart was just lying. But he wasn't. And eventually, the truth came out.

Breitbart has never lied about ANY story that he broke – if he had, he would have been sued in a court of law. He never was. if you have some secret knowledge to the contrary, please let us all know.

To Bannister – The ACORN video has been proven, by many sources – not ALL of which are Left-Leaning – to be a set-up that was heavily edited to show the story AB wanted. That's an example of his underhanded, dishonest tactics, (some of which are used by the Left Wing as well).

    Nil nisi bonum.
And even if you don't ascribe to the freedom, liberty, and America-hating agenda espoused and agitprop extolled by the deceased, do be polite: there were even some who lamented the death of Dr. Goebbels.
