The United States on Wednesday announced charges against Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the accused mastermind of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, and four others accused of involvement in the plot.
"If convicted, the five accused could be sentenced to death," the Defense Department said in a statement.
Along with Mohammed, the others are Walid Muhammad Salih Mubarak Bin 'Attash, Ramzi Binalshibh, Ali Abdul Aziz Ali, and Mustafa Ahmed Adam al Hawsawi.
The charges allege that the five are "responsible for the planning and execution of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, in New York; Washington, D.C.; and Shanksville, Pa., resulting in the killing of 2,976 people," the statement said.
The five accused are charged with "terrorism, hijacking aircraft, conspiracy, murder in violation of the law of war, attacking civilians, attacking civilian objects, intentionally causing serious bodily injury, and destruction of property in violation of the law of war. The convening authority has referred all charges to a joint trial."

it doesnt require much intelligence to use box cutters to simultaneously hijack 4 airplanes.
Its more to it than that my friend.
No point in my going into details or another debate , that has been done extensively by experts and those in the loop who knew much more than an ordinary American like me does. Right down from top military, intelligence, aviation, public officials from our own and other Western countries to first responders, architects, engineers and investigative journalists.
We may never know or perhaps maybe a few decades later.
Have a good one all.
How is it that ya'll know every detail about the O.J. case yet know so few concerning 9/11? During the OJ trials, you people were arguing back and forth accross this entire nation concerning every little tiny thing...every little scrap of evidence. Show me your evidence these men did the crimes before you call for their heads on a platter for you to display where justice once stood.
@oj: yeah, i'm sure it had nothing to do with simpson being a household name before the crimes were committed.
someone get the net, it's loose again..
Ram a 747 up his a s s.
Oh, that's right. You got to see the OJ trial not long after the crime was committed. If you had to wait over ten years for the trial, you'd all be 'talked out' already. Never mind. That, or black v whitee excites you more than the other.
Hi bnanasy..Hope your doing fine.
I never have understood people who plead guilty even though the prosecuting attorney keeps delaying the trial. If they had the goods on you, they would put your trial off for ten years you moron(s).
You are no more a retired judge than I am the Queen of England.
@leeintulsa:
I suppose, with Jeff', he is setting up justification to pervert Jeff's name.
Instead of giving him the death sentence. Put a tatoo on his forhead..."I failed my mission", then send him back to Pakistan or Iran. Maybe they'll execute him for us, and save us some money.
It's standard operating procedure for US justice to delay trials by ten years when the evidence to convict is so overwhelming. Thought everyone knew that.
@Jeff Frank. Bet you didn't say that before OJ's trial. A hole.
Going after Jeff Frank.....why?
What did he say?
@banasy: does it have to make sense? 'he of many names' was reaching. he probably can't stand being on the same side as jeff.
on the previous page, jeff said he was withholding judgement for evidence, which i would certainly agree with. and he couldn't argue with the obvious i stated, so just easiest to call someone prejudice and pick a fight. he might have even trolled jeff with the 747 comment – it doesn't coinside with his previous comment. or, there may be other trolls at work. it's funny when they tussle with each other.. or themselves..
2leeintulsa:
Ah. I see.
We may have a bobcat's list #6 going on here...(I think it was #6)....
...of course everyone here does realize that it is against federal law for a military tribunal to handle cases involving crimes (such as these 5 men have been charged with) when there is a civilian court available. No? You missed that one in 8th grade civics class?
@ lee, dont get too excited sweetie, thats not really hamsta.
@chrissy:
Lee was talking to OJ.
Hopefully this won't be on of thos year long trials. Try them, sentence them, forget them.
the law have taken its cost, n nobody can avart it.
