Prosecutor to make announcement soon in Martin case

A special prosecutor plans to release new information within days about the controversial case involving 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, who was shot to death by a neighborhood watch volunteer.

Angela Corey said Tuesday the information will be released in the next three days. Her announcement came the same day that attorneys for George Zimmerman, who says he shot Martin in self-defense, told reporters they had lost contact with Zimmerman and no longer represent him.

"He has gone on his own. I'm not sure what he's doing or who he's talking to," said Craig Sonner, Zimmerman's former legal adviser. "If he wants us to come back as counsel, he will contact us."

Prosecuters routinely make decisions on whether or not to proceed based on whether or not a case can be realistically won. It's not just about the "game" (though it might be for some lawyers). It's about justice. If I was a prosecuter, I would absolutely ask investigators to prove the case to ME before deciding to go ahead. I wouldn't want a wrongful conviction on my conscience, if I personally had reasonable doubt. I would not just trust the capabilities of the defence lawyers. In this case, there is reasonable doubt, whether you like it or not.

Where is Mitt'n on this issue?

He needs to speak up for George's rights.

Who is out there man or women or transgenger enough to be on the right side?

The reason people (of All ethnic groups) are upset is because an Unarmed teen was shot by an armed man, who was told by police to stay put in his car! When Zimmerman called in the "suspi.cious person" sighting, (who he obviously didn't observe leaving the premises, or he would know he belonged there), his job was done! Anything that happened after is on Zimmerman! He opened the door of his vehicle & gave chase Against the advice of authorities! How would any of you "riot, BlackPanther" spouting bloggers feel if this was Your child!? I'm pretty sure you'd want blood, if a trial wasn't forthcoming! The Stand Your Ground law is a "throwback" to "wild west"laws & has no business being revived in todays society! It needs to be recinded & this incident is a perfect illustration Why!!

@fernace its not often i agree with you but you hit the nail on the head.we dont need all this race baiting to bring zimmerman to trial and convict him.i live in one of the worst neighborhoods in america and if i see someone with sagging pants i know that they are up to no good.it has nothing to do with race-white kids wear their pants like that too.i will watch the section in front of my house but wont leave my porch to chase a suspiscous person-that is the policemans job.the thugs just better not come any further than my porch because anywhere in america a man has the right to defend his home.

Racism, Bigotry, Profiling: You see it all the time! Even in these posts. YES, I, personally believe that if this would have been a white or white, black on black crime this whole situation would have been "no news"! That is part of the problem, as it should not make any difference what color your skin is if you commit a crime! Would be nice if that is the way we treated things, but that is just wishful thinking.
