Greek leftist leader lays out radical agenda

Greek leftist leader Alexis Tsipras on Tuesday laid out the radical agenda he hopes to pursue if he becomes prime minister, including the cancellation of international loan agreements to Greece that forced the country into sharp budget cuts.

He also called for state control of the banks as he started efforts to form a governing coalition in the wake of parliamentary elections on Sunday.

The Greek people voted clearly to reject the austerity demanded by international lenders, Syriza Party leader Tsipras said.

The two parties that made the agreement with international lenders "don't have a majority any more to vote for the plundering and looting of the Greek people," Tsipras told lawmakers.

Tsipras met Greek President Karolos Papoulias earlier on Tuesday to get instructions to try to cobble together a government in the wake of elections that left the country's political system in chaos.

Syriza will have three days to form a government.

Yes I hate to say it, but this guy and SYRIZA party ideals are only going to bring Greece into further chaos and destruction. I predict he won't be able to form a government, and neither will the 3rd place party, and that will mean new elections in June. Therefore, bringing even more chaos afterwards and a waste of precious time as all of this goes on. Sad, very sad.

@ american greek for once i agree with you. notice i spun your name around. don't know if you are an american born citizen or not but its about respect. all this pc crap with insert nationality hyphen america is very unpatriotic. you are american first whatever else second. i am french german english and irish but you dont see me describing myself as german- french- irish – english-american because i am simply american. doesnt mean im not proud of my heritage just means im american first. they should have taught you proper etiquette in dealing with the flag and patriotism in school. for instance that flag you pledge your allegiance to should never be flown below any other flag and by announcing yourself as greek before american you are renouncing your allegiance to the greatest nation on earth. the flag is to never touch the ground and if it does that is the only time other than being tattered and worn out that it should be burned. i dont blame you for not knowing these things. the libs failed to teach you.

Attention all left wingers: pay attention to whats happening in greece. this what your eutopian dreams of socialism and the occupy protestors will bring you. socialism has never worked throughout history. socialism failed the egyptians. socialism failed the romans. socialism failed the national socialist workers party(nazis). socialism is currently failing greece. france has learned nothing and has now officially become socialist. margaret thatcher said the problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples money. in other words you can only leach off of someone for so long before they either cut you off or you bring them down with you into poverty. capitalism didnt fail you,get off your lazy leaching a$$ because you are failing and bringing america down into poverty with you. america is only falling into decline because millions of socialist leaches are sucking on her life blood.

I fail to see why one has to deny their ethnicity to appease the egocentric rantings of a rodent. I was born here in America, but I am proud to be of German descent; I do not call myself German-American, but I do not see what the problem is for anyone wishing to call themselves that to do so. Disparaging another because of what they choose to call themselves is rather petty.

My church is having an ice cream social next Saturday. According to some, that would translate to be a Nazi rally. There is absolutely no correlation between Nazism and the Socialist movement, other than the word social being in both party names. Get an education befor posting such utter garbage. The two are nothing alike, similar to a hamster being a gerbil; the only thing in common they have is both are rodents.

@social butterfly because its insulting an unpatriotic to other americans. it is the same as flying the african flag above the american flag. that used to be taught in school until these politically correct liberals took over and started teaching the kids that it is ok to be a crossdresser and that the pledge of allegiance might be offensive to unamericans. if you dont like my american flag and have a problem pledging your allegiance to it then you are a threat to america and dont belong here.

@ draco the germans have more than paid their share.my grandma was a survivor of nazi germany. the irish have more than paid their share. some my irish ancestors were slaves. my question is when are the muslims going to pay their share? the entire world hated on my german ancestors for hitlers crimes even though they were not nazis. maybe if we treated the muslims as my people were treated terrorism would disappear.
