This week, President Obama announced his personal support for same-sex marriage. The endorsement came a day after North Carolina voters passed a constitutional amendment that bans gay marriage in their state.

Prohibiting gay marriage: Another example of the far right enforcing THEIR moral beliefs on the rest of us, just as with a women's choice to control their bodies.
For the younger generation, before Roe v. Wade, women got abortions, it was just in back alleys, from people with zero medical training, generally using coat hangers. Many women died from this 'procedure'. And what did the far-right do about this? Essentially nothing except wring their hands and complain.
Why does the left stand up for gays but not for polyamorists?! They are supposed to be the accepting and progressive party. Why is everyone so bigoted against polyamorists? Polyamorists don't even get a mention!
Saying someone's marriage is against your religion is like getting mad at someone for eating a jelly doughnut while you are on a diet.

Or like saying that someone shouldn't vote against allowing those genetically predisposed toward violence to commit murder in their spare time. After all, the genes make them violent, it's not really a choice.

Yeah! Gay marriage is not a threat! But! They are not the only minority s.e.x.ual orientation! Polyamorists should have equal rights, too! In fact, we should abolish marriage, because it is simply bigoted and unfair to those of minority s.e.x.ual orientations!

I could never understand why people say that gay marriage is a threat to straight marriage. I don't ever remember anyone telling a straight to get a divorce or prevent a straight from getting married. Marriage should be legal for all. I don't understand why people throw religion into this. So if you think gay marriage is legalized tomorrow that the gays are going to storm your church and demand to be married there? No. The churches still have the right to not perform the ceremony. So there. You can practice your religion at your church and define marriage in your own way at your church, that's your right. And gays also have the right to be married, in their own kind of church or wherever. Freedom for all.

Yes! And marriage equality means equality for all, not just gays. Polyamorous people should have the right to follow their s.e.x.ual orientation and to marry as many husbands/wives as they would like. The age of consent should be lowered to accomodate those whose orientation is toward the younger persuasion. And those who, for whatever reason, happen to find themselves more oriented toward animals should be allowed to marry them! Freedom and equality for all, not just gays!

Being from Canada and reading all of the comments from the opponents of gay marriage makes me laugh and also VERY pleased I am Canadian. Gay marriage has been legal in Canada since 2005. The sky has not fallen "God" has not swooped down from the skies and inflicted his many plagues on us evil Canadians for giving folks equal rights. Instead what has happened is we celebrate our differences within our country and recognize that our differences make us a unique society that we can be proud of.I encourage all of you to enbrace your differences. In the end they mean little to the big picture.
