This week, President Obama announced his personal support for same-sex marriage. The endorsement came a day after North Carolina voters passed a constitutional amendment that bans gay marriage in their state.
So, we want to know - what does Obama's announcement mean to you? Will it make any difference in your life?

The Amazons are NOT a myth, fool !!
That line was added much later, for anti communist propaganda. We are a secular state that allows free practice of religion, not to be governed by it. You people make me sick.
It was not necessary to change the definition of "white" to outlaw racial discrimination. (i.e. "From now on, everyone in America is white.") It is no more necessary to change the definition of "marriage" to outlaw discrimination against registered civil unions.
I love how is one does not support the lib point of view we are biggots, how about you follow the herd mindless sheep explain to me how you are not a biggot for disagreeing with my theology.
Forget bigitry, religon & such think economy how can this be anything but good, Partys presents, they will want to buy homes, cars. even lawers benifit when they want to divorce.. and marrige counsolrs!
I say if they want to get married LET'EM then they can be miserable like the rest of us!!
Just because I dont follow your ideals doesnt mean I am a bigot. I dont trash your ideals. I dont put laws into place that will force you to follow my ideals. Yet year after year you strive to force me to believe in your ideals by putting such laws in to place.
Atrue computer geek, got news for you all the laws of this country were based off of a religious platform! have been and always will be.
Oppression People:
We are not disagreing with your views. We disagree with your right to put your religious values into our Secular Laws. You are free to be as narrow minded as you want behind the walls of your church. However, when you step outside of that building into my Secular World, your rules do not apply. You always scream about seperation of church and state. The right to freedom of religion. Well, it is a 2-way street. I demand of seperation of your church from my state. I also demand freedom from your religion in my secular world.
Because your theology isn't grounded in evidence, therefore has no place in the laws of modern society. Nobody is asking you to marry someone you don't want to marry. This doesn't infringe on your freedom whatsoever, but because it doesn't match up to *your* idea of how other people should live, you support laws intended to discriminate and create inequalities. And you want to do all this based on a few words in a 2,000 year old book, a book whose scripture is mostly ignored when making modern laws. We don't punish those who eat shellfish or work on Sunday. Your view is backwards and dead. It's time for society to outgrow this infantile view of the world.
I guess one could make the same argument for stupid or narrow minded people such as yourself too.
Conservatives and the Taliban should join together. Their views are so much alike I'm sure they'd get along really well.
@captain kirk, since you dont agree with me i accuse you of being a biggot, you seem to think that ias long as it makes a few people happy its all ok, do you see the flaw in your mindset
Since the two words, "under God," were added to the Pledge of Allegiance ABOUT 1960, I have refused to say those added words.
I was married to a woman in a church. Our good marriage would have been the same if it had been done at City Hall.
I'm glad I know what's in the Bible, as it's too popular.
Shove that book.
JOEY you are a self fulfilling pleasure seeking fool, you despise christianity because it makes you feel bad for doing things you enjoy huh?
How does this forum work? I wrote a very well-thought out reply and it never showed up. I tried to resubmit and the site noted I I already submitted those words. So where are they, and why are times out of order? Do they reflect local time?
I've read a lot of strange comments that marriage is for pro creating and babies. What about infertile straight couples? What about elderly straight couples? So they shouldn't be getting married either?
Why is there never a mention in the bible of a Mrs. Jesus or little Jesuses? Here we have a dude who only seemed to hang around with 12 other dudes. No women. Hmmmm, I wonder if Jesus ever got it on with his "disciples"? Makes you wonder what really went on.
that is because Jesus did not divulge in desires of the flesh or sin, his desire was that of the Fathers!
I have been thru many years of married hell. I think those suckers should have to also.
Whats the problem, besides trying to justify your own ,head in the sand views. You can't pray the GAY away. I have great friends and they are gay, so your point being...
you could also have great friends who are thieves but are very nice and hurt no one are the right in what they do?
maybe you know people who have s3x with animals but are very nice is that ok?
Jesus: Love one another.
Tea Party Jesus: Hate anyone who is not like you.
Jesus does not teach tolerance of sin nor does he teach that we are to condone it.
so, "gay" and "lesbian" is a birth defect in your medical opinion... get a life, loser
You can't say it's a medical problem, then say it's a "sin" =P You're mixing science and religion, which are not the most compatible subjects...at least for now.
