Colorado legislature meets on civil unions

The Colorado legislature met Monday in extraordinary session to consider a number of bills that were not brought to the floor last week, chief among them a civil-unions bill that has strong bipartisan support.

House Speaker Frank McNulty, who opposes civil unions, made no secret that he also opposed the special session, which was called by Gov. John Hickenlooper, a Democrat.

"Planting corn today," the Republican speaker tweeted on Sunday. "What I should be doing tomorrow insread (sic) of a special session for the legislature."

He expressed similar sentiments on Monday, when he tweeted, "Special legislative session on same sex marriage brought to you by Colorado Gov @hickforco and cost picked up by Colorado families."

But the bill is not about same-sex marriage, which is banned under Colorado's constitution. Instead, it is about civil unions. And that was not the only bill that Hickenlooper said he wished would have passed during the regular session.

Religious nut-bags trying to cram their agenda and beliefs down everyone's throats!

They need to realize that government protects the rights for all people:
i.e. – Civil marriage in a court should be allowed between man and woman, man and man, or woman and woman.

Each religion has its own right whether to recognize said marriage within its walls. Religion is merely a "social club."

Wow. The auto-monitor is way skewed on this issue, I see. The "Pedo Bear" types are free to say any and every obnoxious thing they wish. But anyone trying to make the simple point that clear prohibitions in The Book against h o m o s e x u a l i t y are being censored. Ah, well; it's the way of CNN. This will be my fourth attempt to say that the first c hapter of R o m a n s has not been repealed - and that includes the 27th v er se.

As that is not a recognized law, State ot Federal, and never will be, the point is moot.

My guess is that you are scared that I am posting truth against your religious retoric. And that scares you. That's why you resort to blasting the mods for not "censoring" my posts. I feel for you, I really do.

being gay is an illness comparable to adhd or bipolar disorder. its a chemical imbalance in the brain.(most gay people claim they were born that way- so was that kid with adhd.) being gay can be fixed the same way as adhd is fixed- being declared disruptive to the classroom and put in special ed while made to ride the short bus and force fed medication until the gayness goes away. THEIRS YOUR EQUAL RIGHTS- GAYNESS IS EQUAL TO ADHD AND SHOULD BE TREATED EQUAL TO SOMEONE WITH ADHD.

Hmm...last I recall, Buffalo Bill was fictional. but if you want to go that route, I recall he was abandoned at an early age by his alcoholic prostltute mother and was severely abused by his foster parents for a number of years. He eventually identified himself as being tran$3xual and not gay. Please tell me where the "gay" comes into play here?

There is no such thing as bi. you are either gay or not gay. if you are attracted to the same s3x you are gay wether or not you are attracted to the opposite s3x. the same is true for so called transgendered people. if you are a man not even the most extensive surgery will turn you into a functioning woman. instead you will be turned into a neutered gay freakshow.

Marriage is an agreement between 1 man 1 woman and 1 God. government has no place in that agreement. God destroyed sodom and gammorha for a reason. where do you think the word sodomy comes from?

Now you are calling yourself gay. You stated earlier that:

"There is no such thing as bi. you are either gay or not gay. if you are attracted to the same s3x you are gay wether or not you are attracted to the opposite s3x. the same is true for so called transgendered people. if you are a man not even the most extensive surgery will turn you into a functioning woman. instead you will be turned into a neutered gay freakshow."

Now you are stating marriage is a three-some involving a man, a woman and god. Last I recall, according to some religions, man was made in the image of god (thus god would be a man). Therefore, your concept of marriage is between a man, a woman, and another man.

      Hamsta, typical religious hypocrlt.

Colorado Springs had a lezbian mayor a few years back, fmr. Mayor Makepeace. (yes, her real name) By the time she was done with our town, our city hospital was nearly bancrupt from providing health services for city employees gay partners...gays don't just suffer from hiv ya know, it's just the most expensive ill-health they have. Anyway, we booted her out for lying to us, and we recalled ea. and every gay city council member, and elected new ones without personal agendas.

Hmmm...if I recall correclty, it was the hospital that sent a letter to teh mayors office regarding the ownership of the hospital. They asked to be remain under control of the community but asked for improvements to be made. A simple search also reveals that the hospital never declared or filed for banruptcy. Ah, the wonders of a simple think such as "search." Move your hate mongering to the next article, please. Thank you.

There is something in the water that wasn't ever there before: urinated pharmaceutical overdoses. Our city water system can't deal with them. Can yours?(seriously)
