Iran threatens legal action against Google for not labeling Persian Gulf

Iran has threatened legal action against Google for not labeling the Persian Gulf on its maps.

"Toying with modern technologies in political issues is among the new measures by the enemies against Iran, (and) in this regard, Google has been treated as a plaything," Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said Thursday, according to state-run Press TV.

He added that "omitting the name Persian Gulf is (like) playing with the feelings and realities of the Iranian nation."

On state-run news agency IRNA, Iranian officials accused Google of having removed the words "Persian Gulf."

Google did not immediately respond to CNN's request for comment.

But a Google spokesperson told Britain's The Guardian newspaper that the Internet giant had not removed the term "Persian Gulf" - it had not labeled it from the beginning, as is the case with many other places.

Just so you would know, the "world" hates the US more than it hates Iran. Search for "most hated nation on the planet" polls 😉

Ok the above comment was an answer to someone else's comment about how Iran was the most hated country on earth. That comment has somehow been removed and only mine remains, so before you start insulting me, you should know this.

This is a serious matter. Google refuses to label "Persian Gulf" either because they were paid by the Arabs to do so, which makes them corrupt and backward, or because the Arabs bítched enough about the Persian Gulf being called "Arab Gulf" that google finally decided to "remain neutral" and just call it "the Gulf". Either way this is cowardly behaviour on google's part. No matter what the Iranian regime is or does, google does not have the authority nor the right to just change the names of territorial waters. This is not about Iran being good or evil, it's about principles. "The Gulf" has been called "Persian Gulf' for over 3000 years yet today these cokroaches still insist that it must be "Arab Gulf" just because it is surrounded by Arab countries. If google admits to this then it means that the Arabs and their endless oil money have won. It was "Persian Gulf" long before the Arabs were even literate. The Romans called it "Mare Persica" at a time when the whole Arabian peninsula was called "Arabia Inferior" (lol).

We already know te world hates us the most, I see what you did there...Google it? C'mon now.
That being said, Iran is starting to sound very childish....what are they going to do, put a bounty on Google's head?
They never labeled it in the first place, as they didn't with many other places.
So they're rather lazy; nothing nefarious in that

US envoy says" we are ready to hit Iran" NY Times.
We got your back Google. God, what madness.
The cry babies on our soil and Armageddon nuts as usual, prostrating themselves before the nuts ruling in Tel Aviv.
America's interests and that of its citizenry be gone.

I'm looking at my school atlas right now, & there are many cities, bodies of water & places that are not named, depending on vastness of area represented! Iran is freakin' for nothing! Every1 knows where the Persian Gulf is & is happy calling it that! It reminds us of the days Persia, (now Iran), was a nation of innovation & intelligence, that the whole world was able to benefit from! They are barely a shadow of their former great nation! Perhaps that should be their worry, instead of this type of silliness!!
