Coastal Alabama and a large section of the Florida panhandle remained under a flash flood watch early Monday, after a weekend in which some areas received more than 20 inches of rain.
Officials in Escambia County, Florida, where Pensacola is located, expect damages to total more than $20 million.
Flood waters up to 8 feet deep inundated the Forest Creek Apartments in the city.
"I walked out chin-deep in water," Lillian Murphy told CNN affiliate WEAR TV. The floodwater submerged her car and almost reached the roof of her apartment. "I don't know who to call or who to contact."
The National Weather Service noted a wide range of rainfall totals around the region as of 8 a.m. Sunday, the latest available data as of early Monday.
FULL STORY

To all the Florida residents, I apologize:
I clogged my toilet on Friday and went out of town for the weekend. I guess it continued to overflow while I was away.
Sadly, even with all the rain the state has received. They continue to be in a drought. A few good Tropical Storms or a minor hurricane or two would definitely help them fill their coffers (Lake Okeechobee) with water and get them out of the current drought.
I have memories of many happy times spent on the Gulf Coast.
May the good people who live there be blessed with more fortunate conditions soon.
Florida is the only place in US where if you are not driving on a highway overpass the roads are below sea level.
New Orleans is another area
We have really needed this rain down here, just not all at one time. But that's the way it is on the gulf coast, either no rain or too much at one time. If their were a possible way, I would will this rain to the areas of Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado at this time. Wishing everyone the best in those areas of severe need.
bobcat, are you all right?
I was worried!
Especially because we didn't hear from you yesterday!
My good wishes for everyone....

Yes, we are doing allright in my area. Thank you for your concern. After Katrina, we moved to this area that is away from any big water sources. The amount of rain did flood some of our main streets, but nothing major in our neighborhood. About seven miles up the road in Theodore, they had some major flooding. Quite a few houses and cars innundated. They still have flash flood warnings in effect for our entire area.
Say, how you getting to work ? Backstroke.
Three women are about to be executed. One's a brunette, one's a redhead, and one's a blonde. Two guards brings the brunette forward, and the executioner asks if she has any last requests.
She says no, and the executioner shouts, "Ready . . . Aim . . ." Suddenly the brunette yells, "earthquake!!" Everyone is startled and looks around. She manages to escape. The angry guards then bring the redhead forward, and the executioner asks if she has any last requests.
She says no, and the executioner shouts, "Ready . . . Aim . . ." The redhead then screams, "tornado!!" Yet again, everyone is startled and looks around. She too escapes execution. By this point, the blonde had figured out what the others did. The guards bring her forward, and the executioner asks if she has any last requests.
She also says no, and the executioner shouts, "Ready . . . Aim . . ."
The blond shouts, "fire!!"
Good, but it was predictable. Try:
A blonde and a brunette are skydiving.
The brunette jumps out the plane and pulls the cord - nothing happens.
She pulls the emergency cord and still nothing.
The blonde finally jumps out of the plane and yells "Oh! So you wanna race, huh?"
Rawr:
I am glad you are okay.
I was worried.
PEDO BEAR and bc (iah) ©,
All blonde jokes are pretty predicatable.
That doesn't make them any less hilarious!
Well done, you two!
