Hamas says military wing agrees to cease-fire with Israel

[Updated at 8:30 p.m. ET] The Palestinian group Hamas says its military wing has agreed to an Egyptian-brokered cease-fire with Israel following a sharp increase in violence between the two sides.

In a statement posted early Wednesday, Hamas - which controls the Palestinian territory of Gaza - says it will observe the cease-fire as long as Israel remains committed to the agreement.

There was no immediate response to the cease-fire announcement from Israel, which said more than 75 rockets had been fired into its territory from Gaza in the past three days. Six Palestinians and one Israeli died between Sunday and Tuesday in a spate of rocket attacks and Israeli airstrikes, officials on both sides reported; Israel also said a Palestinian child was killed when a rocket launch attempt by militants backfired.

Talk is cheap, when there are no rockets from Gaza, there are no reprisals from Israel.

Why would this be any different than the last dozen times Hamas agreed to a cease-fire? I think Hamas has a lot to prove since they have historically changed their minds and reneged on all of their previous treaties.

SHAW, GEORGE BERNARD. 20th century British dramatist.

"This is the real enemy, the invader from the East, the ruffian, the oriental parasite; in a word: the Jew. (London Morning Post, December 3, 1925)

GENERAL GEORGE VAN HORN MOSELY, in the New York Tribune, March 29, 1939

"The war now proposed is for the purpose of establishing Jewish influence throughout the world."

Still think adolf hitler was such a bad idea?

Hitler- absolutely. As for Shaw, and the General, I'm surprised you didn't list Henry Ford, T S Elliott, Thoas Edison, all famous anti-Semitic people.. I am no fan of Israel as I believe that they attacked the USS Liberty deliberately, but it takes 2 to tango. Arafat had the oportunity for peace and just couldn't take the fighter out of him.. Also, one man's freedom fighter, is another mans terrorist.

DIO CASSIUS. Second century Roman historian. Describing the murderous Jewish uprising against the Roman empire that has been acknowledged as theturning point downward in the course of that great state-form:

"The Jews were destroying both Greeks and Romans. They ate the flesh of their victims, made belts for themselves out of their entrails, and daubed themselves with their blood... In all, 220,000 men perished in Cyrene and 240,000 in Cyprus, and for this reason no Jew may set foot in Cyprus today." (Roman History)

Jews are always culled for a good reason, this this example to understand why the next genocide of Jews will need to be through and complete.

SARCASM ALERT. Yes, you're quite right, Jews are the ONLY PEOPLE to have committed war crimes in the past 2000 years. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll have to try to stop my eyes from rolling.

This cease fire will last for as long as the Palestinians will want it to last. Israel, however, can convince them to comply with the cease fire terms. All it has to do is to send ten missiles back to Gaza for each one coming from Gaza.

Keep in mind, 75 rockets being fired onto Israel this past week is 75 more hits than Israel recieved when a mere boy named David headed their defense. According to Jewish history anywya.

Something must have happened to allow rockets to get through now that men, rather than a a mere boy, head Israel's defense.
