Michigan State Rep. Lisa Brown writes in a guest column for CNN that her use of the word "vagina" on the state House floor didn't cause an uproar until the male-dominated leadership had time to think about it:

No one seems to be immune from the foreclosure crisis, including Grandview Baptist Church in Morganton, North Carolina, CNN affiliate WBTV reports. The church was about to be padlocked and taken over by the bank last week when a stranger pulled up in a pickup truck and spoke with the pastor. What happened next has folks around Morganton using the word "miracle," and meaning it.

A place in the sun

What better way to mark the summer solstice than to center and stretch in New York's Times Square? CNN iReporter Rachel Cauvin photographed thousands of yoga enthusiasts celebrating the moment on Wednesday. According to the official site of Times Square, the participants' goal was to find peace at the epicenter of one of the world's busiest cities.

Oracle CEO Larry Ellison has a lot of money. I mean, A LOT. Probably way more than you and everyone you know, put together. So what does a ridiculously rich dude do? He buys virtually all of Lana'I, one of the Hawaiian islands, to be his own private playground, of course. When we asked what kind of place you would set up with that kind of scratch, you got creative. Case in point:

Mine would be an uncharted island where all bobcats would be free to roam as they please. There would be fields of catnip so we could experience the euphoria of enlightenment forever. We would allow some dogs, but only as our servants. We would section off one very large area of beach for a litter box so we could experience the serenity of the waves lapping on the shore as we relieved ourselves. The wind would be so gentle that it would never aggravate us by ruffling our fur. Ah yes, that would be the cat's meow.

On the horizon: Sandusky verdict, 'Newsroom' premiere

The jury in the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse trial could come back at any time with a verdict. The case went to the jury Thursday after the former Penn State assistant football coach's defense team declined to call him as a witness during the trial.

Aaron Sorkin's new HBO drama "Newsroom," featuring a character inspired by a CNN correspondent, premieres Sunday.
