Aimee Copeland, the young Georgia woman who has been battling a flesh-destroying bacterial infection, got to go outside Sunday for the first time in seven weeks, her family reported. The family released a photo showing Copeland and her parents on the hospital grounds.
"Aimee has a beauty in this photograph that I think goes beyond words," Andy Copeland, her father, told ABC's "Good Morning America." "It's a beauty of survival, of resilience."
Copeland has lost her hands, one leg and both feet to necrotizing fasciitis, which followed her fall into a creek in a zip-line accident May 1. Nevertheless, Andy Copeland says she feels optimistic and "blessed to be different."
Her father wrote on his blog that being outside Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, was "the best therapy she has had in weeks."

It's so nice that this young woman managed to defy the odds and survive. I'm rooting for her and certainly accept and respect whatever she and her family say and feel to process and make sense of such an insane experience. That said, don't people realize that there is no God or "God's will?" "God" didn't cause this woman's situation, nor did "God" save her because there is no higher being intervening in one's life.
God didnt cause this, but he pulled her through it & is helping her move on. Even Science had given up on her, but God & her family never did. It is thanks to him your life was created and you are able to write and speak your ignorance. Thanks to God, almighty.
Why is it that atheists feel the need to frantically proselytize their view at every turn? It must be just that their beliefs are based totally on opposition - I've never seen someone religious who obsesses 1/100th as much about atheists as atheists do about people who believe what they don't.

Wisconsinite: you've got to be kidding! Religious people are inserting "god" in everything: thank god, god bless, god willing, god knows, etc. It's so common that you don't even notice it. When someone balks about having god shoved down their throat all the time, it seems that it's easier for you to complain than to take a real look at the pervasiveness of religious proselytizing.
That said, I'm sure glad she's pulled through and hope to god that she is done with it.

I'm so proud of her, she never gave up and fought against all odds. She is a hero and thanks to her people are now aware of this horrible disease. I know people read this and thing of her loosing both hands, a leg and a foot but when your fighting for your very life its worth it. KEEP FIGHTING THE WORLD IS WITH YOU
It worries me that we don't hear from her; instead, it's always her father and he consistently says she is wonderful. It's normal for her to experience some deep depression – is he negating her feelings out of his own fear? Please let her grieve.
Is it just me, or wouldn't it be obvious that if she lost a leg that she would also have lost the foot on that leg. Not like they attached the foot to her hipbone. That would be odd. It was just confusing that's all. Good luck lady, you have a great smile and its due to your sheer determination(and modern medicine) that you made it through. I think I would have just asked they pull the plug on me. Your a brave one.

It is the support of her family and how she was raised that will help her through this! It is obvious from he dad's comments they are loving parents! Bless you Aimee and keep righting!

She doesn't have to have hands or feet to create a miracle in this world. There is no predicting what she may bring to this world. Go girl!!!!!

Way to go, Aimee! It is so great to see her outdoors with a smile on her face. I wish every blessing on her Dad, Mom and sister Paige, who have been so supportive of her, and especially her dad, who has been so accommodating of people's interest in Aimee's recovery. He has kept up a blog about her progress and his feelings as she faces this battle – I don't think many parents could so eloquently express what he has. Keep the faith and heal well!
